Is there a warning sign, yet. Activated? Now, can they do something about the people jay walking not more than 10 feet from a crosswalk!!?? What's with that!? Is it ignorance, defiance?!? I saw a young black guy crossing College Ave the other day BEHIND the car stopped at the crosswalk and in front of the other cars just as it turned green. So, he was about - let's say 10 feet from LEGALLY crossing but decided to NOT use the crosswalk and endanger and inconvenience others. Is it because it's a white-guy flashing when he's supposed to cross and he doesn't like that? It's very common. I can see it if there's no crosswalk, but come on, man! Use some sense.
I was told the only one that makes money on these is the company processing the tickets, the city actually loses money on them!
Not only that, pray tell me what school is located within 1500ft of this camera? If there isn't, isn't it illegal? Don't believe speed cameras are in the city charter, except for school zones.
Pretty certain the city is not following it's own rules, but who is surprised by that? The link here is the information on the speed camera criteria per the city. Now Prince Street Elementary is just at the very edge of the half mile mark by road using the corner of Bethel St and Rodger St, It is 3/10th of a mile by straight line. This is the City trying to get revenue.... https://salisbury.md/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/SpeedCamFAQ-EDITED-06-09-15.pdf
It's like the orange bikes doesn't work and a bad location at that. Really Jake could you come up with 1 good idea in 2019, you haven't had one good idea since you took office. Review the orange bikes, the blue stickers in the roads to mark where fire hydrants are, taking down the fence around Riverwalk, bike paths that aren't used, the FESTIVAL, removing chain link fences in the city of Salisbury. And really anything you have done has been a failure.
It'll be a money-maker. They don't invest the money for those things in a location, unless motorists are burning up the highway there. And, although I haven't been by there yet, I'm sure it follows the letter of the law, and signs are posted warning of speed camera enforcement.
Where's the school zone? Or the work zone? I thought those were the only places in MD where speed cameras are allowed. Or is it just a speed "awareness" camera, like on RT 50, at Trappe, MD.?
Off topic but still in reference to Jake Day's ignorance and city spending. How that "MUST HAVE" community center working out over there off Truitt St??? Everytime I have to go on that side of town I swing by to see how readily it's being used. Guess what I think it's nothing more than a hiding place for city employees to "nap" during working hours
@ February 8, 2019 at 7 : 39 AM. I see a lot of them do exactly the same thing. Not using the crosswalk and crossing right through traffic. See them walking in the middle of the streets too when there is a sidewalk right there. They also like to push the nose of their vehicles into traffic when at an intersection. And don't do anything to let them know you're in a hurry. When they see that, they just slow right down to aggravate you. Must be a new black thing. They call it the 'white mans law".

Time for some GREASE.
When I contested a ticket for College Ave in oct 2017 they said they were getting rid of those cameras. More lies from the city police chief.
I hope nobody spray paints it .
Jake Day trying to fund his welfare housing and fire house.
I thought they were getting rid of them, also.

Good looks
simple solution
dont speed
These are supposed to be near schools?
I am not a fan of cameras, but people do drive like a$$es on that road. However, the police should be managing, not a camera.

I thought these were to "save the children!" near schools? Anyone who runs for any political office and promises to get rid of these things will win.
1000 yards from what school?
Is that Grease on the Lense ?????
It's a half mile, try reading sometime. It's within distance to Bennett and Prince Street.
Where is MSP OHHHH they only come out in nice weather ? Ever Notice that ??????
Lol yup
No where near a school zone proves it BS about safety for the children.

It's less than 1 mile from Prince Street and Bennett, well within the law.
Are you sure it's a speed camera and not an electric panel box?
speed camera southbound camden ave, fruitland just passed bennett construction
closest school is the new bennet 1/2 mile away
Grease or Vaseline on the glass distorts the view.

Um, it’s in the city. It’s not MSP’s responsibility.
MSP handles enough in the city. They come in and solve every homicide. Now you want them to handle all of the city’s traffic enforcement?

There are no signs as of yet.
