Ford is recalling nearly 1.5 million pickup trucks in North America because the transmissions can suddenly downshift into first gear.
The recall covers F-150 trucks from the 2011 through 2013 model years with six-speed automatic transmissions.
The company says a glitch in sending a signal from the transmission speed sensor is the cause.
'Depending on vehicle speed, a downshift to first gear without warning could result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash,' a press release from Ford read.

You will definitely spill your coffee when this happens.
Imagine when this happens to a self driving vehicle. Not good.
Modern commercial airliners can fly themselves.....until a problem occurs.
Then you can sue Ford and McDonald's
