BREAKING NEWS: Ocean City Fire Chief to Retire After Nearly 12 Years

Ocean City, Maryland – (February 14, 2019): Fire Chief Chris Larmore, who has been leading the Ocean City Fire Department for more than a decade, will be retiring this spring.

“I have been honored to serve as a member of the Volunteer Fire Company for over 27 years and most recently serve as fire chief for the Ocean City Fire Department,” Larmore said. “I am thankful for the men and women that I work with each and every day, and for the opportunity to serve the community that has been my home for most of my life.”

Larmore was hired as fire chief in 2008, when the Town of Ocean City created a combined fire department. Serving as the department’s first chief, Larmore oversees three of the department’s divisions, including the volunteer division, career division and the fire marshal’s office.

“Chief Larmore lead the department through both changing and challenging times,” commented City Manager Doug Miller. “He played a vital role in the successful merging of our volunteer division and our EMS division. He exemplified the slogan, ‘United to Serve’ and his service will most certainly be missed.”

Although an official date has not been announced, Chief Larmore is expected to retire before the start of the summer season.

All the CRYBABIES who have did nothing but bash this man should be happy. But I'm sure he took a job elsewhere. Better money and location with less Drama than the CRYBABIES of the Eastern shore.

Bet all the firemen he was chief of are not Eastern Shore natives

12 years, full pension. Ain't government jobs, funded by taxpayers dollars, great?

He did a great job righting the ship in 2008 and helping with some policy changes until about 2012 or 13. But in recent years there has been a lot of turmoil, not all his fault. The changing of the 24 hour shifts is what really did him in, the council is the ones that really wanted it. I wonder if Jay Jester will apply?

The Chief has honor and integrity beyond all, no one else could have accomplished what he did. He was your best friend until you didn’t like his decisions. “Did him in”, bet he’s the one celebrating. Congratulations Chris
