Dem Rep to Pelosi: 'Give Trump the Money' for Border Wall

Democratic Rep. Collin Peterson (Minn.) is bucking his party's leadership and calling for Democrats to approve funding for a wall on the southern border.

Peterson, chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, has not been a supporter of President Donald Trump but told KFGO's "News & Views" that it is time for Democrats to compromise.

"Give Trump the money," Peterson said. "I'd give him the whole thing … and put strings on it so you make sure he puts the wall where it needs to be. Why are we fighting over this? We're going to build that wall anyway, at some time."

Trump has demanded more than $5 billion in funds to build the wall, which Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) called "immoral" and refused to allow any money to go toward. This apparently colored Peterson's assessment of the situation. The congressman told KFGO that there is not a clear path to a deal to end the ongoing partial government shutdown.

"I don't know how we get [to a deal]," he said. "The White House hasn't called me. When I bring up what I have to say [to Democrats], they look at me cross-eyed."

Peterson said money could be used for improving security at ports of entry as well as assisting the Border Patrol. He argued Trump could still use the money well if Congress does not just give him a "blank check."

Yes Dems should give him the wall. This is an easy solution.

1) Pass the border security items everyone agrees on (more judges, more border patrol agents, more technology)

2) go ahead and give Dump his doofus wall.

3) in return give amnesty to the DACA folks, cut the red tape in the immigration processs, invest in people and infratructure in mexico and central america to conduct the immigration process in their home countries, and work with the private sector to connect immigrants to locations and jobs in demand.

All commonsense measures here that the experts have been pushing. Too bad there are way too many idiots out here willing to voice their uninformed opinions and following behind whatever nonsense the politicians spout.

This is true. Yes, the truth. It is a dark hour, my listeners. Fellow travelers, it is apparent that they have succeeded. You know who (of course you do). Soros and the New World Order Globalists. Yes. It is true. They will stop at nothing to silence you. Hush, they say. Nothing to "see" here. Yes, there is. There are many malfeasances occurring every day. This started in 1994 with the rise of the Internet and they controlled him. Bill. But he slipped from time to time and was more conservative than they liked. Yes, then in 2003, they discovered wi-fi was a better communication tool to the brain than a hard line hookup and could direct thoughts in real-time. Now, we saw Obama's "planting" in the White House. How can someone with no birth certificate and who comes from Kenya be President of these United States? The media. They, you know who, knew the Mindless Drones (Democrats) would vote for him even though he can't speak coherently without his TelePrompTer machine. We have seen the videos and we know the Truth!

1110 "wide open before Trump got elected"???? LOL even Trump stated plenty of wall had already been built before he came along. He sites stats on the effectiveness of wall areas that are built. Kinda demonstrates you don't have the best grip on reality.

1110: the problem with your statement. America was promised that this wall would be paid for by Mexicans. Why are we now shutting down the government over Trump's lack of followup on his campaign promise?
