I don't think this is true. I know some stations pulled "It's cold outside" because it's obviously rapey.
Not to mention inappropriate. I get it, the catchy jingle of it causes the confusion.
And if it were a real scenario you heard playing out, you would accost the man. Inform him that getting someone drunk and taking advantage of them is pretty much giving them a roofie, and you would get her out of there... let alone if she were your daughter you'd probably punch the guy in the throat... but I can't find anything about "Do you hear what I hear"?
I guess we enjoyed the song before "roofies" were heard of 8:48. I guess the females like Deana Martin can't get with today's society. Thank goodness ladies, keep on singing as we that don't get offended at everyday things will continue to enjoy. Didn't get this much attention when Billy Boy had company under our oval office desk. Or was it his desk, they sure attempted to fleece the place upon exiting. I wish I could live many more years to watch this mess unfold. Merry Christmas!
8:48 - Dude (or dudette depending on how you identify today) lighten up. It was just a joke! I know you liberals lack the ‘sense of humor’ gene but don’t take everything so seriously.
8:48 There is nothing obviously "rapey" about the song. Do some research and you will find your answer. The song was written long ago when people didn't sleep around. Seriously do the research and enlighten yourself. You might also find out that this picture was just a jab at the absurdity of protesting Baby it's cold outside.
If you think people weren't sleeping around in 1944 you are sorely mistaken. People have been fooling around forever, just sometimes we are more open about it than other times.
I didn't need some media outlet to tell me this song was rapey. The first time I heard it, my very first impression was "wow, this song is kind of rapey".
You are allowing your better judgement be clouded by a catchy jingle, and you are parroting what your preferred media is telling you.
Any one with a daughter knows that this is not o.k. You all know I'm right. Just stop it. I'm not calling for the song to be banned.
Remove the catchy jingle and read the lyrics and it becomes a really bad story. You know I'm right. Just stop it.
Also, pray tell how does one "lighten up" their opinion on something that is obviously rapey?
'Baby, It's Cold Outside' is from a Hollywood movie circa 1948. The scenes in the movie first show a guy imploring a gal as they sing the duet, followed immediately by a gal trying to get her clutches on a guy while singing the same song. It's a classic song for a reason. View it on YouTube and enjoy.
We're all here because guy and gal concurred and planted a seed. Merry Christmas; the line for September babies is now forming!

Just as this meme is offensive to people who can spell.
