Princess Anne Barrack Underage Alcohol Compliance Initiative

Somerset County, Maryland- On Wednesday November 21 2018, Troopers from the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack conducted numerous alcohol compliance checks at retail establishments in Somerset County. Troopers ensured that various retail establishments which hold a Somerset County Liquor License were denying sales of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21 years old.

A total of 20 retail establishments were checked. Each of the retail establishments that were subject to an alcohol compliance check, complied with the provisions of the law and denied the sale of alcoholic beverage to minors:

Juniors Wine Stop and Shop, Princess Anne Maryland
Kings Creek, Princess Anne Maryland
Dash Inn, Westover, Maryland
Goose Creek, Westover, Maryland
Marion Station Market, Marion Station Maryland
Linton’s Seafood, Crisfield Maryland
Brew Thru, Crisfield, Maryland
Big Willy’s , Crisfield , Maryland
Cove Street Market, Crisfield , Maryland
Shore Stop, Crisfield, Maryland
Crisfield Oceanic, Crisfield, Maryland
Kash and Karry, Princess Anne, Maryland
Lucky’s Store, Deal Island, Maryland
Arby’s General Store, Deal Island, Maryland
Caesars Pizza, Princess Anne, Maryland
Spikes Subs & Suds
Washington INN, Princess Anne, Maryland
Crisfield Shore Stop, Crisfield, Maryland
Peacocks, Princess Anne, Maryland

In an effort to keep minors safe during and after the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend, Troopers will continue to conduct thorough and unannounced compliance checks to ensure that alcoholic beverages stay out of minor’s possession. Statistically the highest consumption and purchase of alcohol occurs during the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend. With that the State of Maryland shows an increase in alcohol related collisions, many of these collisions involve serious bodily injury.

The alcohol compliance checks were made possible by funding provided by an in partnership with the Somerset County Local Management Board.

How is it entrapment? Underage cadets go in and try to buy with their legitimate license. It is up to the establishments to check these ID’s. The State has made it easy, minors license are vertical. So entrapment hell no.

Just another way for the State of Maryland to make money!! The State Police are technically breaking the laws of Maryland by sending underage cadets into alcohol establishments to purchase alcohol! Encouraging criminal behavior Troopers!!
