Baltimore continues its descent into chaos. The Democratic Party has been asleep at Baltimore City Hall for nearly five decades, as the now de-industrialized region had the highest homicide rate among the nation’s 50 largest cities (population over 500,000) last year and the second-highest violent crime rate overall, according to new crime statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Since the American High (the late 1960s), the city's population has been halved. Baltimore was once at the center of American ingenuity for its massive steel manufacturing plants -- but not so much anymore. The city has been rotting from within for decades. When one thinks of Baltimore today, automatically The Wire, 2015 riots, and murders come to mind.
According to The Baltimore Sun, the city has sustained a vicious upcycle in violent crime since 2015, when the per annum number of homicides soared well above 300 for three consecutive years after civil unrest that followed Freddie Gray’s death from injuries suffered in police custody.

Dave T: Anyone surprised. The state is run by Dumocrats who are completely incompetent. Our liberal governor who pretends he's conservative is another enabler that adds to this massive failure. Maryland only tops the list when it comes to things "wrong" in the U.S. Why I still remain in this state is a question I'm working hard daily to resolve. Anyone have any ideas why the killings have almost stopped in Chicago?
The city doesn't support their police. They are letting the animals run the zoo. I saw one documentary about this month's ago on the series Vice on HBO. The police's attitude is: Just call me after the crime and we will write up the police report for you.
Why are those neighborhoods crying out? It's their own damn kids that are doing this to Baltimore. You raised them that way, now rein them in. Nothing will change till they go in those neighborhoods and start kicking azz and taking names. Bust a few heads and they will get the idea. Don't do anything and nothing will change. Only get worse. Drastic times deserve drastic measures. It's the only thing those idiots understand.
