Dick Durbin (D-IL): "Why [are these protests] happening for the first time in the history of this committee? ... You are the nominee of President Donald John Trump."
Last week, the left-leaning (to put it kindly) American Bar Association awarded Brett Kavanaugh its highest endorsement, a unanimous “Well-Qualified” rating. According to ABA guidelines, “The rating of ‘Well Qualified’ is reserved for those found to merit the Committee’s strongest affirmative endorsement.”
This endorsement used to be the gold standard for Democrats considering Republican judicial appointments. So what’s the holdup on Donald Trump’s nomination of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States?
Well, four reasons: 1) the election of Donald Trump; 2) the resulting epidemic of Trump Derangement Syndrome; 3) pandering and political theater, Democrat Party style; and, finally, 4) a deep sense of remorse by Democrats that they killed the filibuster for judicial nominations in 2013 to clear the way for a slew of Barack Obama’s far-left nominees.
Democrats have set about to make as much trouble for Trump as possible in their relentless effort to de-legitimize his election. This hyper-partisan dialogue has devolved into very uncivil discourse, even in the once-august Senate chamber, which has lately become a proving ground for leftist ideologues positioning themselves for a 2020 presidential run.
What became of Senate civility? Same four points outlined above.
Let’s briefly review the context for the current Senate SCOTUS deliberations.

As always, the tides will turn, and the minority party will again become a majority party. The democrats, in their quest for absolute power, changed the rules to reduce the power of the minority while they were a majority. They thought if they packed the courts with partisans, they could win everything in the courts, and not have to rely on legislation. And it almost worked, except they didn't stay in power. Well, as any moron could have predicted, their shenanigans lead to their loss of majority status, and they are all crying that the Republicans are using the tactics that the Dems enacted, to keep the Dems minority status from having any Congressional impact on appointments to the Federal bench. Hey, what comes around, goes around. They were stupid to change the rules that had been in place forever (and were there for a reason). Harry Reid thought he was smart and, oh so powerful, when he changed the rules to get the Dems way in Congress, while everyone was saying it would come back to haunt them.
What's worse, the tactics they are employing now, the likes of what has never been seen before on the Senate, will be employed against them, when they once again become a majority. The Dems are ruining our country, and eliminating any civility in our Democratic institutions. I can't wait for the fisticuffs to fly in our Congress, like we see in other countries (Japan, U.K, Korea, etc.). The Dems have made legislation a joke, a really bad one. They've made our legislative process a circus.
Just wait until the next time a Democrat president has the opportunity to nominate another Supreme Court judge. I bet the Dems all call foul when Republicans employ the same tactics in the Senate chamber. And they will, now that the Dems have set the precedent, just like the dems did with the filibuster rule and the 60 vote requirement. The dems are trying to say to the American people that this is the way that business is done in Congress. The dems are a..holes. Their presidents have soiled and defiled the office of the presidency (Bill Clinton), divided our country like no other (Obama, not Trump) and their congressmen have turned our legislative process into a circus. I used to be a proud American, but then came Obama, and he has screwed America over with his racist policies, and illegal activities and subversion of our democratic principles.
