A pact of five nation states dedicated to a global “collect it all” surveillance mission has issued a memo calling on their governments to demand tech companies build backdoor access to their users’ encrypted data — or face measures to force companies to comply.
The international pact — the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, known as the so-called “Five Eyes” group of nations — quietly issued the memo last week demanding that providers “create customized solutions, tailored to their individual system architectures that are capable of meeting lawful access requirements.”
This kind of backdoor access would allow each government access to encrypted call and message data on their citizens. If the companies don’t voluntarily allow access, the nations threatened to push through new legislation that would compel their help.

A back door for one is a back door for all. It's like the government telling everyone to leave their houses unlocked in case they want to come in an look around.
They have and had a backdoor to all things and devices such as cell phones and the like... This is all fake talk to get you to think the tech giants are on your side when they ARE NOT!!!!!! Same thing back when that fiasco happened in Cali and they went after Apple to open up their phone... The govt already knew or had access, they wanted to see what it would take and what they could use in compelling you or tech giants to unlock their stuff for the govt when they come calling... It was a litmus test so to speak...
12:37: The difference here is, the govt WILL get its way, because all companies fold under pressure, ALL COMPANIES!!!!! hell even the regular citizens will fold under govt pressure...
