Public Hearing to be held Monday, September 17 in Baltimore
BALTIMORE — Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer, Jr. will hold a second public hearing on insurance companies’ proposed premium rates for 2019 health insurance plans. This quasi-legislative hearing, scheduled from 10:00 am – 12 pm noon on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Maryland Insurance Administration’s (MIA) office in Baltimore, will primarily focus on plans sold directly to individuals. Comments related to the small group market will also be heard.
“As we evaluate the proposed health insurance rates, we want to give all interested stakeholders an opportunity to present their views to us in this second open forum. The purpose of the second hearing is to address the impact of the 1332 waiver and our state based reinsurance program on proposed rates,” said Commissioner Redmer. “We are looking forward to hearing from interested parties on this important topic.”
Two insurers (four legal entities) filed to sell in the Individual Non-Medigap (INM) market for next year, and four insurers (10 legal entities) filed for the small group market. A summary of their proposed premium rate requests can be found at www.insurance.maryland.gov. More comprehensive information can be found at: www.healthrates.mdinsurance.state.md.us. Public comments may be submitted until 5 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018.
Interested parties are encouraged to attend the public hearing. Time limits may be imposed for oral testimony, depending on the number of people who would like to testify. The MIA is located at 200 St. Paul Place, Baltimore, Md., 21202. The public hearing will be held in the Hearing Room on the 24th floor. Written testimony and a request to speak at the meeting may be submitted by emailinghealthinsuranceratereview.mia@maryland.gov or by faxing 410-468-2038 or by mailing the MIA, 200 St. Paul Place, Suite 2700, Baltimore, Md. 21202 attention: Nancy Muehlberger, Office of the Chief Actuary.

Why do you clowns insist on wasting time????? All that needs to be said is that premiums will go up, probably by 5% to 30% range and it won't get any cheaper!!!! Only way to fix this is fix the system which they won't do, and if they did, would more than likely put an even worse system in its place... You people keep forgetting the fact that you are slaves, by taxes and fees and mandatory items like ACA but I guess you are not affected by this enough to give two shits... You will, when you become what you are always on here complaining about... High taxes, high fees, water and sewer bills goign up, never down, gas prices going up hardly down, when your cost of living goes up but your pay stays the same, yeah maybe then you will care, once your needing help from the govt, and then we demonize you too for using it and needing help...
the clowns are the ignoramuses who fell for obama's lies and are now stuck with over priced inferior health insurance. To the obama lovers good you deserve to have inferior health insurance.
