1 In 3 Amazon Employees On Food Stamps In Arizona

Thousands of Amazon employees rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps, to feed themselves.

One in three, or 1,800, Amazon employees in Arizona, one in 10 (700) in Ohio, and one in 10 in Pennsylvania, or more than 1,000, are on food stamps, Business Insider reportedSaturday.

The numbers are “misleading because they include people who only worked for Amazon for a short period of time and/or who chose to work part-time,” an Amazon spokesperson toldThe Washington Post Thursday. “We have hundreds of full-time roles available, however, some prefer part-time for the flexibility or other personal reasons.”

Democratic socialist Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has been a vocal critic of companies like Amazon. He is introducing legislation that would require large businesses like Amazon to cover the cost of food stamps, The Washington Post reported.

I wonder how much of his 157 billion dollar net worth it would take to cover the cost of the people who are on food stamps at Amazon. That doesn't figure in the net profit of Amazon SMH

We are supplementing the paychecks of these low paying companies, which allows employees to stay at low wages when otherwise they would have to find a better paying job. Bernie is missing the problem. Food stamps need to be cut out entirely. If you can't feed your family we have plenty of local soup kitchens. People would gladly donate if they weren't losing 25-30% of their paycheck to taxes for government handout programs.

10:43 PM And you are missing the problem because your theory doesn't work either.

The problem begins as early was Walmart and Amazon negotiating for tax breaks to be in your community and your stupid leaders bowing down and meeting their demands. It gets worse from there.

The fact that we have 2 Walmarts would be your clue as to how impoverished this community is when they, and 2 non profits are your biggest employers.

See even people with JOBS still need HELP and yet all you people do is bash the system and the people on it, saying they don't have jobs and they need to work, well what about the ones who are working but don't make enough????????? Does that fit in your pea brain narrative then????

I does but the issues I have ran into are not that employee's do not make enough money it's they only work enough to get by with government subsidies. Example $12 hr employees work 30-45 hrs per week and $22 hr. employees work 20-25 per week this is what I deal with every day guess who gets fired for not showing up. It's a culture of laziness there are more jobs than people to fill them I know first hand not from some news articles. You Maybe the exception to this but in general this is what I have to deal with on a daily basis as a business owner

So not only does Amazon basically pay no taxes and has a sweetheart deal with USPS, WaPo Bezos depends on the taxpayers to feed his employees. SMH
