I was wondering at what point the county intervenes in fire department/EMS operations.
My concern, as a Pittsville resident, is that they fail to respond to EMS calls more than any other fire department in Wicomico County.
Just last week they were requested to assist Salisbury Fire Department on a car crash, and they NEVER responded.
They share a paramedic with Parsonsburg, and if that paramedic is on a call then you can count on Pittsville to not get an ambulance out the door.
I remember when Pittsville was recognized for never not responding, but what happened? I don’t think they ever recovered from the Richard Chapman fiasco.

You should probably donate 50k a year for a paramedic and 50k for over time and 25k for his or her leops retirement contributions.
To many chiefs and not enough Indians in that department. Any new people that they get don't stay around for long. Even if a paramedic is available they still have to wait for a driver. Volunteers are just not showing up.
Richard Chapman. I could’ve gone the rest of my life without hearing that name again.
Pretty sure Station 15 (Allen) is worse. Especially if it’s a call in Somerset.
If Fruitland didn’t have a paid crew they’d never get out. Idk why they have 2 ambulances. They fail to respond to 2nd emergencies 100% of the time.
Parsonsburg better thank God for 642.
Guess who their number one customer is now? The irony! LMFAO.
Well, do you know how many times I’ve heard 604 or 301 driver only. IF THEY GET OUT. 3, 6, and 15 are constantly getting realerted.
This is true. A couple of days before that call I heard Parsonsburg scratch, then Pittsville scratched and then Willards scratched. Finally about an hour later into the call Willards got one person to drive and then Powellville had one of the county paid paramedics respond to Willards to pick up the ambulance to then drive to the first ambulance call in Parsonsburg that they scratched on. This is a sad situation going on in Wicomico County and Bob Culver and the Council either don't know about this or they don't care about the life and safety of its citizens that pay the taxes.
Ironically all of these stations have been telling Bob and the council that they don't want the Station 13 volunteers to run on calls with them. They can't get out on their own calls, but they don't want to share the territory with another volunteer station. It's time for Bob as the County Executive to Sh*t or Get Off the Pot!
I never knew of a volunteer that didn't jump at the chance to drive....
The county refuses to do what they know is right and establish an EMS system. They would rather let the Fire Chiefs, who have minimal EMS experience and training, make the decisions. Wicomico would financially benefit from an EMS system, right now they are giving money to the individual Fire Companies without much expected in return. There are no standards, no response minimums, no staffing minimums or other criteria to recieve funding. Wicomico is known as a joke, it will continue like that until they establish standards and a county system. Its great for the taxpayers to realize millions of dollars go to a system in which no response is guaranteed of the initial dispatch.
It wouldn’t help at all having 13 around. Because not only do the Station 13 clowns not do firefighting, they absolutely never EVER did EMS.
