WASHINGTON, DC: On May 18, the U.S. House of Representatives rejected H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018 (commonly known as the Farm Bill). Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) issued the following statement after voting against the Farm Bill:
“Congress’ failure to increase the number of available H-2B visas has placed severe, undue stress on the First District’s seafood processing, tourism, and landscaping industries. These industries are being forced to scale back their operations, increase prices, and lay off American workers. I voted against the Farm Bill today because I could not in good conscience vote to advance more legislation through Congress without a resolution to the H-2B visa shortage.”

Andy, do you listen to yourself? How does having less foreign workers cost American workers their jobs? Doesn't that make more openings for American workers to GET jobs????
I'm not sure that taking hostages is the best way around these problems.
Just make it all happen without the drama, eh?
7:23 PM You make more sense than he does. Less foreign visa workers will EVENTUALLY allow the labor market to adjust to workers already legally residing in America. This may take time and be painful, though, but allowing foreign visa workers and illegal workers has been painful to many. (Did I word that well enough to not offend, yet still accurately represent a real world economic principle? Or will someone still have a problem with it?)
Come to the Eastern Shore and surrounding areas. The illegals are running their own landscaping businesses and putting licensed businesses with less jobs. Same thing with construction and especially roofing jobs. Licensed businesses can't compete because they pay for licenses and liability insurances. Salisbury is becoming a home for illegals. Wish ICE would visit here.
