I heard there is some sort of Agricultural Store going in there.
Really the only influence the public has would be to contact businesses themselves and try to sell the vacant space to them.
You can do that when you own the property
Already have Wal-mart, Acme, several Food Lions, a couple other discount grocery stores, and the new Aldi. The last thing Salisbury needs is a new grocery store.

Salisbury could use a decent grocery store. What we have sucks.
These are all the lowest level of grocery stores...what we need is a real grocery store and to get rid of some of the ones we currently have.
The east side needs a good mom and pop restaurant...not a chain.

We need a grocery store that is better than those that we already have.
Aldi is going in the lot across the street (Rt. 13) from Chili's. Construction already underway.
I heard that the Aldi is going to be across from WaWa North and corner of Dagsboro Rd. across from State Police Station

I am in business paying taxes. How do I compete against a church not paying income taxes or other taxes? Now they own shopping centers.
If Salisbury could support a "high-end" grocery chain, we would already have one. We are never gonna get a Wegmans or Trader Joe's, so get used to it! Aldi's is just a better version of Sav-A-Lot, so I'll stick with Food Lion...
Great that will bring more traffic onto Dagsboro road. The county doesn't do anything to curb the speeding vehicles in that area.
I think Salisbury could definitely support a higher-end grocery store, but the profitability just isn't going to be quite the same as over the bridge, hence no investment up until now.
The bottom-feeder chain stores here charge a premium for any food, good and bad.
Luckily, there would be a lopsided movement of grocery traffic to any better store setting up here. At least the parent company of Aldi also owns Trader Joe's, so maybe they'll get one in here after they see the Aldi does well & the trucking route is established.
It has come to my attention that Oak Ridge Baptist Church has started talking to possible businesses to replace Kmart.

Never heard so many people talking out of both sides of their neck. First Salisbury is a crime ridden low income city. Then in the next breath we "Need" a high end type of grocery store. Then to top it off we aren't ever since thankful for what we do have. Look around people your a country full of obese idiots
They should turn into a place for the youth: Batting cages, indoor skateboard ramps, rock climbing, etc.

Never trust a church that owns that much commercial real estate....in my opinion all churches should pay taxes. They fleece enough money from the congregation I'm sure.
They've owned this shopping center for sometime already.

Should make it an ice rink and host youth hockey. Tournaments bring in tons of money. Salisbury University’s hockey team could play there as wel.

The church owns that much commercial real estate because its main supporter and member owned Pepsi in Salisbury when Pepsi came around and bought up all the privately held portion of company. Morgan hazel and family from rumor were PSID in excess of 100 million for their ownership. But in saying that its pretty ironic to be able to shelter that kinda loot in a 501c3 non taxable. As far as some of the others they abuse a lot for personal use. One used it to get his kid an athletic scholarship them had it blow up in his face

You would think there are alot of high and mighty people in Salisbury when actually most probably shop at Walmart. I've been to Aldi in Easton and not a bad store at all and prices are definitely better than Food Lion or Walmart. Give it a chance people instead of putting it down. And yes, you do get your quarter back if you return the cart to where you go it and how many people already carry their own bags to the grocery store anyway - I see alot of them doing that so no big deal about the bags.
The Old kmart I think should be like the old university tire building on 13 South near SU. A bar, a mobile phone store, a restaurant/bar all in one building. Would not hurt to pave and repair that parking lot.

First of all we are not all obese, those are just the inbred locals.
Second, a grocery store promotes more healthy eating habits then putting a Cracker Barrel or some other garbage restaurant there.
Third, Salisbury is pretty crappy, those of use who have a household median over $75K live towards OC
