Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), a member of the Armed Services Committee, said without an act of Congress, President Trump cannot use military funding to pay for his border wall, as Trump suggested he might do.
"I think it would take an act of Congress to make sure that we prioritize and appropriate the dollars for that objective," Scott told CBS's "Face the Nation" on Sunday.
"The reality of it is, as commander in chief, he can certainly send signals through (Defense) Secretary Mattis, have a conversation with Congress about where those dollars should be spent. The good news is, we're spending. We're providing more money to the military than we have in a very long time, more than a decade," Scott said.
"The unfortunate reality is that the priorities of the DOD have already been set. However, our southern border is very porous. The truth is that more folks came through our southern border that did not come from Mexico. It is certainly a national security issue."
Scott said it's more appropriate for the Homeland Security Department, rather than the Defense Department, to "find the resources" to build Trump's long-promised wall.

Our border with Mexico is extremely porous. Can anyone deny that huge amounts/numbers of drugs/illegal aliens are smuggled in every day? Can anyone truly say that there are not so many, many tunnels running underground from Mexico to the US that are just a part of this massive, invasive pipeline?
If a Mexican drug cartel digs an underground tunnel from Mexico into the US, doesn't that constitute an invasion of the US? Doesn't it?
So we are absolutely being invaded hundreds of times every day and the MSM and other America-hating liberals/socialists/communists charge us with racism and any other lie that they think they can make work against us.
We need to defend our country. Period. Anything else is just ultra-left lies. Take the word "LIBERALS" and remove the letters B,R,A, and L. All you are left with is LIES.
What would happen if they smuggled in a nuke from our porous southern border and exploded it? Would that make the liberals happy? Would the rest of us no longer be the HEARTLESS RACISTS that the liberals/socialists/communists/MSM/Ultra Left make us out to be?
