RIP? Many Believe That THIS Moment Is The Nail In Facebook’s Coffin

Zuckerberg may have just opened himself up to a world of legal hurt. Platforms are generally not held legally responsible for the content posted on those platforms – so liability issues ranging from copyright violation to slander aren’t serious concerns for platforms. You can’t sue AT&T if somebody slanders you on a telephone call carried by their satellites. But that’s not the case with publishers. Publishers are responsible for the content that is added to their platforms. The Daily Wire bears legal liability for the content that goes up at The Daily Wire.

If the same were held to be true for Facebook, the company would immediately become subject to hundreds of millions of dollars in legal liability. For example, copyright violation bears a statutory penalty of between $750 and $30,000 per violation. How many unlicensed photos are posted on Facebook daily? On a minute-by-minute basis? Now, instead of a photo journalist suing the person who posted the photo, the photo journalist could sue Facebook itself. And Facebook’s pockets are a lot deeper.

This is the problem with determining that you are going to treat your platform as a political outlet. Zuckerberg made that decision months ago in response to the 2016 election, as Wired detailed. Now his company could pay the price.

Dave T: I hope he does get sued senseless. Oops, he's already senseless, how about penniless.

So if say, someone made a threat to a former or current President on an Eastern Shore right wing newsblog?

This just shows how much of fools you all are for thinking and believing something will come of this...

Never could grasp the importance of people needing to post so much fake garbage about their life

Yup. Facebook is gone for the more mature crowd. When asked if he'd be comfortable sharing what hotel he's staying at and where he eats, then was asked why he thinks is's okay to sell that info of his clientele, the look on his face was priceless!

Says a lot.

The thing about social media is your participation generates the profiled data that they then sell to advertisers. Facebook is worth more than Wal-Mart and Wal-Mart actually employs tens of thousands perhaps a million people however meager that wage maybe. The hours you spend on Facebook like an old time party line may seem like an entertaining pass time but you are working for their benefit and not being PAID for it. This is a frightening new economic model and people have fallen for it. You would be better off with an actual productive hobby or write a letter to someone. All your postings, likes and dislikes thoughts and photographs become their intellectual property. The time you spend there and your every posting becomes marketable CONTENT it all seems like fun and games but...........I don't even think Zuckenberg himself imagined how this would grow to be and never laid a secure and transparent path. It's kind of funny ! Facebook is an social sweat shop and you are all not just wage slaves but not even getting paid for working for them.

No and no. But if you were to do self-harm such as suicide, I promise I would try and sue for you. Deal?

Of course, you can't grasp it. First, it is over your head and second, it's not fake. Unlike you, people have lives and do interesting things. You just troll along and hope someone pays you attention. Congrats, I just gave you a minute or two.

Anyone participating with "social media," as defined by today's standards, is an idiot.
