Baltimore Police Chief Apologizes for '200 Years' of Police Brutality at Rap Concert

Baltimore’s top cop Darryl De Sousa apologized for “200 years” of police brutality in front of a packed rap concert earlier this week.

It’s doubtful that hip-hop fans expected to hear an apology on behalf of the police when they crammed into the Baltimore Soundstage to hear Erik B. & Rakim. However, that’s precisely what they got from the city’s police commissioner.

“I want to take about 20 seconds to apologize for all the things that the police have done dating back 200 years,” Commissioner De Sousa said in a video posted on Instagram. “Two-hundred years ago, all the way to civil rights. All the way to the ‘80s where crack was prevalent in the cities and it affected disproportionately African-American men. All the way to the ‘90s. All the way to the 2000s when we had zero tolerance.”

“I want to take the time to apologize for what policing did and I promise you we’re going to make a change in the future,” he added.

Apologists letting the actions of a few bad cops of yesteryear define the whole brotherhood of police the chief should step down immediately.

I love how people think if you just apologize that it makes everything better... NO, they only apologize because they got caught!!!! Nothing more nothing less... apologies mean nothing if you keep doing it...

If I slap you in the face every day for 2 years, then apologize for it, but continue to slap you in the face, do you really think I am sorry???

He is appologizing for political policy that the police have no say in. The police aren't responsible for the disproportionate laws on cocaine and crack, on 3 strikes or zero tolerance.

Moral high ground king. However he just tainted pretty much any and all bs excessive force complaints coming in.

Was is a disproportionate law??

How does he know what happened 200 years ago. Just another political marshmallow. Shame on him

He was apologizing for the police policies dictated by the Democrat government in charge of Baltimore.

Going back 200 years? All the way back to civil rights and crack in the 80s?? Tell me something, does he have a crack in his head or his diploma? What is he talking about? I think Diamond and Silk need to give that man a history lesson.

200 years ago the War of 1812 had just wrapped up. Baltimore in all likelihood was as rough and tumble as it is today.

But this guy was handpicked by Baltimore's current mayor to be a compliant mouthpiece. And he is.

Showing up at a rap concert to apologize to the thugs and thugettes in attendance was a master stroke. Not really; the only certainty about the the slaughter in Harm City is that the dead can't return fire and eventually the stats will reduce because so many participants have been erased.

What a misguided tool!

Sounds like he can make things so much better this summer. He can just order his cops to hang back and allow the Rioters to have room to loot and burn.
