They had been training in nearby Coral Springs earlier that day and wanted to help end a deadly mass shooting that claimed 17 lives.
But their own commander said he didn’t know they were going. And the Broward Sheriff’s Office — worried about over-crowding a chaotic scene with law enforcement officers — didn’t ask for them to show up. BSO already had its own SWAT team in motion.

They didn't get suspended for going. They got suspended for not letting ANYONE know they were going or even on scene. They should've been suspended for that.
I've been saying it all along people have no idea what goes on behind the blue current. Supervisors jam you constantly for doing the right thing. Civilians think cops stick together blah blah such a crock of bs. CNN runs the command staff.

And they did nothing good. At least the SWAT officers were qualified.
BTW, didn't some idiot from WBOC or WMDT go down to Slidell Louisianna with them. Yes, I said Slidell, not New Orleans. That Dickweed Bill Gordy had friends down there so he could show off on the City of Salisbury's dime.
