Fifth Third Bancorp unveils bonuses, minimum wage hike after tax bill passage

Fifth Third Bancorp will pay more than 13,500 employees a bonus and raise the minimum wage for its workforce to $15 after the passage of the Republican tax plan that will cut the bank's corporate tax rate.

It is the second company to announce a bonus for employees because of the tax plan. AT&T said earlier Wednesday that it would pay 200,000 U.S. employees $1,000 each and increase its capital spending budget by $1 billion.

Ok, Let me see if I understand this. Everyone was upset at democrats and the people asking for $15/hr. a year or so ago. Today, everyone is cheering because the new tax bill passed and corporations that now pay less taxes to our government are giving people bonuses and $15/per hour. The government is allowing less money to be collected to pay for all the things that benefit everyone so that companies can give people a one time $1,000 bonus and others $15/hr. Appears to me that the taxpayers got sold out. FYI - Not a liberal or RINO. Just stating the facts.

8:12 The government using tax money to pay for "things that benefit everyone" is a fallacy. 700 billion for a military that isn't dominant, millions to pay off harassment suits against government officials, corruption, bribes, kickbacks, pork and wasteful spending. Maybe half of what is paid in taxes is actually put to use in ways that benefit the citizenry.
