Potentially facing up to 10 years in a Chinese prison, UCLA basketball players LiAngelo Ball, Jalen Hill, and Cody Riley have been released on bail in Hangzhou after being arrested for allegedly shoplifting sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton location near the team's hotel.
For the time being, the accused players are required to remain at that Hyatt in Hanzghou indefinitely, according to ESPN reporter Arash Markazi.
In a video posted to Twitter by Markazi, LaVar Ball, the father of LiAngelo and Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo, was dismissive of the incident.
'He'll be fine,' said the usually outspoken LaVar. 'Everyone's making it a big deal. It ain't that big a deal.'
The Bruins were preparing to open the season against Georgia Tech in Shanghai on Friday when the three players were reportedly interrogated and arrested. All three could face between three and 10 years in prison, Chinese lawyers told Yahoo Sports.

I think it would be great if they went to prison...They hate America until they go to another country...Maybe their arrogance will catch up to them.
Couldn't have happened to a better family. Everything that's wrong with today's society, let's stress sports and not education.
I hope these thugs get Cained.
WTF? They get to fly to a foreign country, play ball, get virtually free education, and still feel entitled! Go ahead guys, keep kneeling. No one - and I mean NO ONE has any sympothy for you and your protests.
Dad says no big deal. Well, I guess they just doin they thing huh?
It might not have been a big deal in the US. It may very well be a big deal in China. When you go to a foreign country you must deal with their laws and the Chinese laws against stealing may be very different than the US laws against stealing. Remember the kid who supposedly stole a flyer off the wall in North Korea. He was sentenced to some ridiculous amount of time like 15 years of hard labor and in Korea, that means hard labor. He is no longer alive. He probably didn't think it was a big deal at first either.
10 years is a little excessive but I hope they get some form of punishment.
They are getting ready to taste some socialist justice.
Is THAT white privilege, too?
Can't you go anywhere and not try to steal something?
Whenever they get back (if they survive Chinese prison), they better get on BOTH knees and thank GOD they are back in the oppressive USA.
Keep cheering.
They are an embarassment to the U.S. especially when our President is visiting China. They are facing 10 years prison time and I hope they recieve and serve every day of it. They are disgusting ghetto thugs who do not belong in civilized society.
I think they should get some serious time in a Chinese prison out of this. But just to be fair, if Daddy really thinks it's not a big deal, he can go to China and split the time with his son. That makes 5 years a piece, much better.
Obama did a wonderful job healing this nation
Plenty of money, but would rather still steal the sunglasses. Were they protesting "yellow" priviledge? Or is it just a "black" thing, that the rest of us just don't understand?
What happens when UCLA expels them (I don't see how they can't)? What other college will want them. Can't wait to hear their whining asses then. Poor choices. How about the poor guy who removed a poster in North Korea?
Oh there are several smaller colleges that would love these players. There is always someone willing to take the leftovers - regardless of their situation. That's what the NCAA is all about - the BENJAMINS!
