Large U.S. farm study finds no cancer link to Monsanto weedkiller

LONDON (Reuters) - A large long-term study on the use of the big-selling weedkiller glyphosate by agricultural workers in the United States has found no firm link between exposure to the pesticide and cancer, scientists said on Thursday.

Published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (JNCI), the study found there was no association between glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto's popular herbicide RoundUp, "and any solid tumors or lymphoid malignancies overall, including non-Hogkin Lymphoma (NHL) and its subtypes".

It said there was "some evidence of increased risk of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) among the highest exposed group", but added this association was "not statistically significant".

The findings are likely to impact legal proceedings in the United States against Monsanto, in which more than 180 plaintiffs are claiming exposure to RoundUp gave them cancer - allegations that Monsanto denies.

Of course they would say that!!!! That is the same thing as cops investigating cops who always find no wrong doing!!!!

Bought and paid for before the study was done. I can tell you, anything that you can spray on a field full of weeds can NOT be good for you to eat. You are eating this poison every time you eat most American meat. I understand it is banned in about 160 countries. I guess those scientist had a different study.

2:34 they also listen to their scientists. Hence their efforts to curb human induced climate change ;)

that's about as funny as a Senate Ethics Probe!

Monsanto and many corporations have strong ties to government. Its hard to trust scientific studies of any kind anymore.

These studies are manipulated so bad. Not saying this is the case but if the chemical caused say the liver, bladder, kidneys, lungs etc to become compromised which can lead to cancer cells attaching to these vulnerable areas and a full blown case of cancer can develop. That's how they can get away with saying they don't "cause" cancer.

Tell that to the farmers dying of cancer.

5:56. What Farmers dying of cancer? I am unaware of any data supporting higher cancer rates for farmers.

Who actually paid for this study. It does not say which means that this study cannot be taken seriously.

I call BS on this. Its banned in so may places. Why would we take a study from another country and give it legal precedence on this but we won't trust foreign research on drugs or chemicals? This country is so screwed.

It was only one farm, but it was large.

Same way they say that vaccines don't cause autism when studies in the United Kingdom and other independent research prove otherwise.
Look around, why is there so much gluten intolerance when this was never or hardly ever seen 50 years ago before roundup? Does it make sense to spray a wheat crop with this poison to get it to harvest faster and then poison the general population?
