Navy apologizes over penis drawn in the sky, grounds aircrew involved

The Navy said Friday it has grounded an aircrew over “wholly unacceptable” behavior after aviators drew a penis in the sky with jet exhaust over Washington state on Thursday.

"The Navy apologizes to anyone who was offended by this unacceptable action," according to a statement from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. "The Officers and Sailors of the United States Navy are professionals, held to the highest standards, while serving our nation with pride around world. The actions of this aircrew were wholly unacceptable and antithetical to Navy core values. We have grounded the aircrew and are conducting a thorough investigation - and we will hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

"The Navy apologizes for this irresponsible and immature act."

Residents took note of the sky writing on Thursday and posted pictures to social media.

Why does everything have to be made into a liberal/conservative issue?

But thousands of women can run around with vaginas on their heads and it is celebrated all over the news. SMH!

Sure demonstrates some precision flying though. Glad those guys are on our side!

Didn't see anything offensive about it. Thought it was great. Precision flying at its best.

Apology? Grounding?

These hero soldiers should be given medals. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
