We Are Family
Jake originally published HE was heading to Shock Trauma without ANY details. Maybe the next time he will be smart enough to put out a press release letting people know WHY he was heading there as it had nothing to do with Jake.
Joe, this firefighter is seriously hurt. It's gong to be touch and go right now if he'll ever have use of his arm again. This mayor makes me sick right now. This is what happens when you let a child hold down a very important position. Right now there are no plans to release any info. They are hoping this will all blow away. Thank you for all you do. The people have a right to know what happen.
9:16, You are correct, his arm is completely mangled. I know a LOT more then the Firefighters. Again, why are we so successful, because we have extremely loyal viewers who tip us off in real time. They know we will get the information confirmed and up almost immediately. It goes to show you that WBOC no longer has a viewing audience willing to tip them off because, (in most cases) if it disagrees with the City/County image it will never get published.
9:21 You are exactly right. If you look at all the other things he has on facebook he has never "checked in" at any other place. He wanted people to know he was there. Driving to Baltimore won't stop the lawsuit that will be filed under your watch.
I feel sick to my stomach. I sure hope Sheree and Desmond Hughes sue the he$$ out of the City of Salisbury, Salisbury Fire Department and the whole City and County Council if necessary. They are all in this together. Back door politics need to go or Salisbury is gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will this incident be what the voting public needs to open their eyes and to get rid of the ignorance and grandstanding that is the current elected leadership?
All I've heard ever since Tilghman was Mayor is Salisbury is done?????? Well guess what it's still here!!!!! The City has insurances and lawyers to deal with accidents like this one....lawsuit is a normal thing with injuries of this sort. Everyone ends up with a black eye, Day isn't personally responsible, should some policies be reviewed.... absolutely! Focus should be on the young man's recovery!!!!!!
1242 Salisbury is NOTHING like what it used to be. Not even close. Now it's just a cesspool of crime & criminals along with backstabbing braggadocious politicians. You must be a millennial because older people remember what this town used to be and how it's downward spiraled over the years.
What a narcissist!!! How dare he use this tragedy to try and make himself look good. This is utterly revolting. He should be ashamed of himself.... Except he lacks any self awareness. Him and his delusions of grandeur are truly frightening. Next he'll be posting that he's donating his arm to the victim.
12:46 I didn't say it was alright....I said it is Salisburys history....I'm in my mid 60's...so I remember!!! The problem is history is the past, can't change a thing...need to do better moving forward.
There was not a reason in the world to use a fire truck for pasting down blue reflectors. It was a thoughtless move on the part of someone. The question is, where does the buck stop?
It says pretty clearly " a member of my city family." I, for one, see nothing wrong in how this was posted or worded. The mayor did the right thing and was there at shock trauma along with senior leadership from the fire department. The fact that he refers to his employees as his "city family" is apparently lost on you people. Maybe you could make a phone call and actually get information (this is called basic journalism) before posting such ignorant comments. Or better yet, actually read the damn post you are making such ignorant comments about.
1-the weight of the apparatus actually helps firmly stick the puck to the road surface. 2-it is practical to use the apparatus because the crew of 3 that is staffing it is working together to get the pucks placed and is always available to respond to calls while they are doing it. The crews are placing the picks down in assigned areas that are within their response areas.
Can someone tell me why he went to Shock Trauma yesterday?? Oh I know. It's all about Jake Day. Self promotion to put on his Facebook page and twitter accounts to let people think he is important. Trust me Jake Day, Sheree and Desmond both told me "What the Hell did he come of here for!" They didn't want you there Jake Day, but those of us with brains know why you went up there for. Wink, Wink. "A member of my city family" means you are scared to death they are going to sue your pants off which they can and should. You are a Fu****g Idiot to drive up there and get in their business. They didn't need you there and they certainly didn't want you there. All you were doing was self promoting yourself otherwise you wouldn't be posting this crap on Facebook for the world to see. Your family my ass. What about David Insley who retired after 27 years of service to the Fire Department. I guess you forgot about your family. What about all the other employees that have retired after years of service. They are only your family when it benefits you. Got to Hell you Pompous Idiot with your jacked up teeth!
Sheree and Desmond Hughes if you guys haven't gotten an attorney yet make sure you are on the phone first thing tomorrow morning.
This is a perfect definition of why you need a law suit against the fire department and the City of Salisbury.
Rick Hoppes and John Tull this happened under your watch. This happened under your leadership or a lack thereof. This proves that the Salisbury Fire Department has been very lax and dangerous. Thank God this young man wasn't killed.
RESIGN NOW Rick Hoppes and John Tull! RESIGN NOW Jake Day, this happened under your watch! It was your vote that confirmed this piss poor, fat lazy slob as YOUR Fire Chief. Resign you worthless idiots.

Can you please explain what the County Council has to do with this?? I was with you until I saw that dumb comment.
1-the weight of the apparatus (considerably more than that if a utility vehicle) helps plant the puck to the road surface firmly. 2-the crew that is staffing said apparatus works together to efficiently get the job done. 3-the crew and apparatus are available to respond to calls the whole time they are doing the work. They are putting the pucks down in assigned areas within their response area.

Thanks Jake, now go back to pretending you are a good mayor.
The mayor was there with senior leadership from the fire department. He did the right hung by going up there. He also clearly referred in his post to a member of his "city family" being injured. I see nothing wrong with what the mayor did or in hiw he posted what he did. Maybe next the actually read the post you are making comments about.

You are 100% correct. There was already 3 fire engine crews ready to respond to any emergencies. How many pick up trucks and suburbans does the Salisbury Fire Department have sitting around that doesn't get used. Wouldn't that have been better to use than a fire engine. If they were in a suburban or a pick up truck they could have easily responded back to Station 16 to pick up the Rescue Truck, Tower 16, the Fire Boat, Marine 1, Hazmat 1, Engine Tanker 1-1, Brush 16, 4th run ambulance calls, etc. Why did they have to be in a fire truck. This is a lack of leadership in the Salisbury Fire Department and a lack of appropriate training. This includes Rick Hoppes, John Tull, Darrin Scott, Jimmy Gladwell, Bryan Records, Lee Smith, Jon David Black. Yes, both paid and volunteer firemen are responsible for that young man's serious injuries. He may be handicapped for life thanks to their stupidity. Please, please, please do the right thing and sue each and every one of them.
23 hours ago our family was rocked by an unfortunate accident while 3 members were working on a service project. We want to thank God for the brother from Annapolis Fire Department that was placed there at the right time to assist our injured brother. We thank our fellow brothers who responded to this call and performed their duties with precision. We thank the MSP Trooper 4 crew who quickly arrived and transported our injured brother to the best hospital in the State for his injuries. When we reviewed the times from on scene to in the air, it may have felt like forever but in reality it was as fast as a transport to PRMC. We thank the leaders of the Department, City, Sheriff's, SPD, and Board of Ed for your support and strength. As of about 12 hours ago our brother has come out of his surgery doing well and with positive results from the great team of surgeons at Shock Trauma. He still has a long road to follow home, but he will travel it with his loving family by his side. We are supporting the family with any and all needs that they have at this time and in the future. Their one request is for privacy and prayers at this time. We will keep you updated with what the family wishes to be shared in the future. Just know that every little prayer carries large power of healing and comfort to them all. As we move forward we will be supporting all those involved in this incident who were deeply impacted by this event physically and mentally. We have a Critical incident management team ready to assist any member who needs help. They were a great help yesterday as we released from the scene and could start the healing process. To all those involved we pray together for you, "May God's healing hands and loving heart, hold you and fill you with peace." For our injured brother and his family we pray, " Almighty God, Wonderful Counselor and Healer, may your grace and presence be known in the coming days. May You be with the doctors and nurses caring for him and that he will see You in their eyes, Amen."
Did Cherry Cheeks Townsend write this sappy crap?? How many times did he mention "Brother" in this crap! And what a suck up!

Jimmie Gladwell 7 hrs · I know folks mean well but please do me a favor and dont do me any favors by sending me links to an alternative news site. I am well aware of the nastiness being exhibited by the Anonymous heroes who just happened to have been at the scene and are experts in all things SFD. Do yourself the favor and simply dont do that site any favors by visiting it. All of us will be better off and retain grey matter that actually matters. Bad things happened, yesterday. Things that will affect both everyone who played a role and the department for years to come. But I also observed some of the best patient care and overall response to an incident that I've ever seen. People out front who responded and people behind the scenes who wont get the credit they deserve for what they did. The positive actions exhibited by many far outweigh the bantering of a few moronic experts who lack the courage to attach their names to their cowardly commentary and who only continue to prove their ignorance with each key stroke. Haters gonna hate. Leave them to do so within their realm of reality. Please leave me out of same. Thanks
Tad Farlow said... That site is like Harry Potter - the place that has no name. Valdemort of the web. Jimmie Gladwell said... My post has been blogged by someone who cant grasp MD Medical Protocols nor understand the premise of your statement. I could care less. The website owner has presented some facts about the incident. The comments from the haters however indicate every kind of conspiracy theory, imaginable. Should've taken to PRMC. Only used T4 b/c it was a FF. Cover ups of all kinds. Patient care providers didn't know what they were doing. Blah. Blah. Both the MSP medics and Shock Trauma personnel commented on the outstanding level of care provided to the patient. Each used the term "life saving," at some point. Their words. Not mine. Both indicated the use of the chopper completely appropriate and in line with MD PROTOCOL. Not SFD protocol. Haters claiming no dispatch and that Ambo responded with no sirens to keep things hush hush. Wrong. I completed the incident report...with a Wic Cnty 9-1-1 Dispatch Centet assigned incident number. Which, BTW, was clearly dispatched via radio. The Ambo, AC, and engine all responded "hot." Lights/sirens. Cover up?? SURE it was! Thats why I requested PD via radio for world to hear. Thats why WCSD reconstruction team arrived and completed a nearly five hour investigation. That's why drug screenings were initiated (per SOP) That's why IWIF was contacted. That's why MOSH was contacted. I'll have cell phone records to prove all this. Blah. Blah. Blah. Rake me over whatever coals you like. Facts are facts. No one is covering anything and quality, appropriate care was issued. Like · Reply · 2 · 5 hrs

David See said... Getting yourself all worked up over nothing Chief. You owe no one an explanation. A FF was injured, treated and transported to the appropriate medical facility; you contacted the appropriate agencies; followed Department, City and other applicable protocols. Bottom line is...you did your job. Screw the bloggers, the nay-sayers and all those other "wanna-be wish they were firefighters". You don't owe them a damn thing!
Who is 1616? He is the one that was trying to talk code to Central and then at some point he "established command." Not long after that Jimmy Gladwell took command.
1616 was the first person I heard talking on the radio about something going on and I'm thinking "I didn't hear no dispatching?" So what the heck? Most of this self dispatching was going on by phone conversations.
Then I heard the ambulance responding and they either told Gladwell or someone "did you see the notes? I think we need an engine to respond." Then Gladwell pipes up and says we have an engine responding and THAT fire engine wasn't dispatched by Central either. This was some very quiet handling of this call. Gladwell can get on his Facebook page and try some serious damage control, but he needs to be fired over the handling of this incident. He was the Assistant Chief in charge of the City yesterday so this happened under his watch. He needs to be fired. People under him have been written up, lost time and even lost their jobs over screw ups less serious than this. He is ultimately responsible for this fiasco. He is the one that authorized that fire engine to leave the station. He is the one that authorized that person to drive that fire engine and drive it negligently. He needs to be fired. If he was a real man he would step down because he has just cost the city of Salisbury millions of dollars!

Hahaha John Tull is only administrative now! He was pushed to the wayside and operations were given to d. Scott! You know Scott, the drunk living in a camper in his daughters backyard that's what is running the fire department now. First sights to get rid of was station 1 volunteers. Then the rest are to come. Since the volunteers at 1 left the city has gone to hell can anyone else see what was going on here? They complained that the volunteers needed to pull hours but, how did that work out for the 16 volunteers? They have disappeared and so has station 2 when they switched! Think about it people this was a horrible, yet truly unavoidable, tragedy but, this is what you have coming to save you now! These people cannot follow the rules yet were quick to bash the volunteers that left saying that they were better then them. Do they look better now?
He should have visited and never said a word to the public, but this is what most AH politicians do. I really dislike most politicians. The good ones don't last because they are not crooks.
So Tim jerscheid comes to Gladwells defense? Enough said! A 25 year Ann Arundel firefighter that ends his career as he started, mopping floors. Then recently go so drunk, drove, in a hit and run, then blames his drunk dad and uncle. Yes, exactly the support Gadwell needs, these are the finest for sure SMH.

And David See, remember when his wife's son or someone be him so bad he was telling everyone he tripped over a coffee table. Bahahahaha!

September 4, 2017 at 2:02 PM

I know folks mean well but please do me a favor and dont do me any favors by sending me links to an alternative news site.
I don't know any details, but having run a couple of ambulance calls I was encouraged the firefighter was flown to STC because it indicates a certain level of patient stability to bypass a trauma center for another trauma center.

Is it procedure to run your own personal Over?

This is some of the most embarrassing crap I have ever read. Who wrote this?? Sounds like this idiot dropped out of the third grade and he has to live at the firehouse to make his life relevant. How many brothers does he have?

It says pretty clearly " a member of my city family."
I, for one, see nothing wrong in how this was posted or worded.
September 4, 2017 at 2:48 PM
Jake don't get so testy. We know you Snowflake Dems get so bent out of shape when the shoe is on the other foot. You clowns screwed up and you clowns need to be held responsible.
Senior Leadership? I've seen more senior leadership out of a boy scout troop.
We all know it was you that posted this or your "Senior Leadership."

What the Hell?? We have a Maryland State Delegates child run over by a fire truck and you are talking about using a fire truck to put down $2 reflectors?? See Joe and viewers, this is the mentality of the thugs working at the Salisbury Fire Department.

Check out how WBOC is covering for Jake Day and Salisbury by titling there story as a "Wicomico Firefighter."

Just wait until Saiontz & Kirk get a hold of them.

This is priceless! Two washed up losers could care less about a "brother" hurt, only to support how it's being covered up. Do a Md case search on Jerscheild. Moved from AA, beat his wife, then drinks and drives, and is retiring from the fire service without a single promotion. Every other Department has dumped him. The "Be like us",says it all. Even Tim's son had to move away from his dysfunctional dad. Tim, you have been BLOGGED, pick on SBY NEWS all you want, your Facebook remarks have been saved. Would you like them posted? The one about your own Dad and uncle, as you recovered from the hangover when you left the scene of an accident. See - Jerscheild - Gladwell - Tull etc., "we all want to be like you".

I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows how much these clown are losers and would never have been promoted if they didn't kiss the right a$$es. Well everyone except Mop Boy Tim. Maybe Timmy should have worked for the Salisbury Fire Department and he could have at least licked Gladwell's boots for him. I'm sure Bootsy wouldn't mind.
And David See, remember when his wife's son or someone be him so bad he was telling everyone he tripped over a coffee table. Bahahahaha! Beat him up so bad in a roadside ditch that an ambulance had to take him to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. David See, most people don't like you and never could. They only tolerated your stupid self.
Now how did that go Mop Boy, we are all "all pieces of shit who wish they could be like us." Not hardly Mop Boy, We have a career where we work hard and get promoted the right way, not kissing someones butt to get promoted. Well, you wouldn't know what a promotion was. How many times did you fail to get promoted in middle school before you dropped out?
