WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) — Former President Barack Obama released a statement Tuesday on President Donald Trump's decision to end the Deferred Action against Childhood Arrivals program, which protects young immigrants from deportation.
"To target these young people is wrong – because they have done nothing wrong," Obama wrote. "It is self-defeating – because they want to start new businesses, staff our labs, serve in our military, and otherwise contribute to the country we love.
"And it is cruel."
Trump's administration plans to "wind down" the Obama-era program protecting hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants brought into the country as children, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Tuesday.
The government will stop processing new applications under DACA, which has provided nearly 800,000 so-called "Dreamers" with work permits and the ability to reside legally in the United States.

Agreed. You shouldn't punish folks who had no choice in the matter and who are here living out perfectly productive lives. You folks always want to demonize people who are looking to come over here, work hard, and achieve. BO said that "hundreds of thousands just want a chance to . . . ", well, 800,000 DACA requests have been processed so that should cover the "hundreds of thousands" statement.

That would be millions that want the chance, at the expense of citizens, those who are legal.
You want the DACAs to stay then the only thing that I would compromise on is if the DACA's are allowed to stay then their families and extended families be deported ASAP, since they were not brought here illegally. If they want to be with their family then they can leave and give up their DACA status. I am tired of supporting these con-artist and let them profit while I suffer to survive.

As with so many things Obama did while President - the way he drafted DACA is unconstitutional. The Executive branch of our government does not formulate laws - that's the job of the Congress. Because Congress chooses not to create an immigration law, doesn't give the President the right to make one. What putting an end to DACA does is eliminate a program that was illegal from the start. If people want something to change, call your congressmen and/or representatives and encourage them to come up with a meaningful immigration bill that can become the law of the land after going through the proper channels.

Obama, the self-styled law professor ( actually a lecturer and not on any tenure track), had 8 years in which to request congressional action to make his ploy legal. Didn't do it. Fault for the current situations rests on his self-centered head.
You can only be a 'Dreamer' if your parent/s brought you here illegally and your paperwork has never happened or been corrected. Translation: Your illegal parent brought their illegal kid to the US. The kids have enjoyed a more relaxed upbringing than they would have in the family's homeland.
So let's fix this legally. Back to homeland for parents and kids. Apply for residency and then get on the path to citizenship. That is what is in the law now, and just because our illegal immigrants find it inconvenient is not a compelling reason to change it.

Here is my take from the article. I never ever listened to the dude when he was in office and sure as heck not going to read about anything he has to say now. He needs to take lessons from President George W. Bush and retire.
If most of these dreamers have been here for 20 or 30 years why didn't they try to become legal citizens of the U.S.
How bout releasing the real stats on the 800,000 dreamers. Most of them have recently come to this country b/c of BO's illegal order. It doesn't pass the smell test. I hope BO feels the same way about the slave owners. Why blame the slave owner's children- they didn't do anything wrong!

They are not being punished. The law, which was circumvented by obammy, is being applied. They were never, LEGALLY, allowed to be here in the first place. They are only being "punished" because obammy allowed it to occur, instead of following the law that was already in place.
Ask obammy why he is punishing these people he should not have allowed to be here.
