McAuliffe: 'Let's Tear Down' Those Confederate Monuments

Last week at a Brookings Institution forum on criminal justice reform, Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D-VA) said the Confederate monuments in his state should be torn down.

McAuliffe said, “Our efforts to date have started a long overdue conversation about how we view justice and how we can live up to our own American ideals. But we cannot continue that conversation without acknowledging how we got here in the first place. So, yes, let’s tear down those monuments and put them in the museums, the battlefields and the cemetery where they truly belong. But let us also tear down the insidious policies that keep inequality and racism alive in our institutions and in our attitudes. .”

He continued, “The greatest monuments that we can build to our nations core values We must actually live the American legacy that we all seek to honor by ensuring that every single child in this country has an equal shot to succeed, that every single man and woman who’s made a mistake has a chance to make it right and that every American has a place to call home. That’s what we work hard to do in Virginia under my watch.”

I asked this question once before. If you tear down all the Confederate statues, because the represent a bad past, why not tear down Martin L King, Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman. They are also part of the same past, right??

Harriett Tubman was a criminal and it is known that she murdered white people in her revolt. That wasn't necessarily an underground railroad, it was a revolt.

ML King was an adulterer, a womanizer, a drinker, a smoker. He was with his mistress in a hotel room the night he was killed. The police were first on the scene because they already had him under surveillance. Why do you think the police had him under surveillance? It wasn't because he was praying with the wrong people, it's because he was a criminal.

Funny how the blacks always idolize the criminal thugs.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe was made out to be a lair, by his own State Police, referring to the cash of
guns stored though the State. He is going to said anything to anyone that they want to here, in Virginia.

I don't know about King's criminality, but I know this -- Hoover hated black people and he hated King. The police had him under surveillance EVERYWHERE he went, sometimes by 2 or three different police agencies.
They were AFRAID of him and what he was saying. He could assemble a lot of black people and he could start a lot of "trouble" (by demanding his own God given rights from men who thought THEY get to dole out the rights). There are NO (even close to) perfect men. History is full of great men with great faults. They pull the masses forward despite these faults.
Further, the difference between Confederates and them is one side was fighting to enslave men (please don't start the "state's rights" thing - it damn sure was about slavery). The other side was trying to free them.
I always take the side of freedom.
I'm against a few sissy and really stupid kids deciding what history they will allow us to see and deciding which taxpayer paid structures get destroyed because they don't like them. It's likely (from their appearance and behavior) they've never paid taxes and are so stupid they couldn't tell you anything at all about that period or its people/politics. Except it was really bad and all white are benefiting from it. Probably happened in the 1700's.
Did I mention their total, arrogant, pretentious, and complete stupidity?
If you like, we can start the hanging with them and work our way to D.C..
Keep cheering.

Let's "tear down" McAuliff and his house and office.

Because of him, they offend me and need to be destroyed as unbid era in the History of Virginia.

Boy the Virginia GOP screwed the pooch when they let this clown get elected to the Governors office. If they would have supported their own GOP candidate they would have had a Republican in Office. I have been following them for many years now and they screwed the pooch again when they didn't support Corey Stewart for the GOP Nomination.
