Major bust at open air drug market

Worcester County law enforcement officials are hopeful last week’s bust of eight people operating an “open air drug market” in Selbyville, Delaware will hinder heroin trafficking across the border, in Maryland.

“I sincerely hope it does make an impact. It’s in our vested interest to make the public aware [of] where our drug problem is stemming from,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Ed Schreier said. “But, we’re not going to arrest our way out of a heroin problem. There’s a lot more work to be done.”

A three-month-long investigation of the Polly Branch Road drug activity led to the arrest of eight people and the seizure of $51,529 in suspected drug proceeds and 5,596 bags of heroin. Detectives also seized 11.29 grams of marijuana, 3.62 grams of cocaine, 10 suboxone strips and a loaded 9mm handgun.

Polly Branch Road in Selbyville is drug market known by many agencies in Delaware and Maryland, including the Worcester County Criminal Enforcement Team (WCCET), which involves police from several county jurisdictions deputized to operate anywhere in Worcester.

8:56. Doesn't matter. Polly branch was/is THE main dealer in the area. Everyone knows this is the go to place to buy drugs. The police need to keep targeting this location.

Gee, I thought the heroin came from Afghanistan.
Where the soldiers guard the poppy fields so the mean 'ole drug war lords can't get them.
LOL

Ever heard of CIA drug running?

They didn't stop ANYTHING.

I GUARANTEE that heroin and pot and meth and pills can still be bought 24-7.
Supply and demand CANNOT be defeated.
They got ONE gun????
3 1/2 grams of coke and 11 grams of pot?? After THREE MONTHS of police work???
If that was the return on investment in the private sector EVERY ONE OF THEM would be fired. Playing "dress-up" must be exciting. And lucrative.
I guess now that THAT operation is done, maybe they can get back to the Nazi checkpoints where 25 cops spend 5 hours stopping 500 INNOCENT people to see IF, MAYBE they are committing SOME KIND of crime. Or standing in the middle of traffic to look into cars to see IF, MAYBE someone isn't wearing a seat belt or is tuning their radio.
Try walking down Church Street, where, if you start at one end, by the time you get to the other end, you could buy a gun, get an ounce of pot and have a bag of heroin.
Whatever you do, however, DO NOT fail to wear your seat belt. There are laws against that.
Keep cheering.

lmclain, they closed a dealer down, complete with felony charges. What else should they have done? Ignored the drug house? Sorry, they took away one your weed dealers.
