Ravens are now the face of NFL’s Colin Kaepernick problem

The Ravens are back in the NFL spotlight for the wrong reasons, again.

Three years after supporting Ray Rice and becoming the face of the league’s problem with how it handled domestic violence issues, the Ravens are now very much at the forefront of the controversy surrounding Colin Kaepernick’s NFL future.

ESPN reported Wednesday that Ravens coach John Harbaugh and general manager Ozzie Newsome are both in favor of signing Kaepernick to provide insurance as starting quarterback Joe Flacco deals with a back injury, but owner Steve Bisciotti has resisted the idea.

The Ravens attempt to control the message on their pursuit of Kaepernick fell flat.

“We are going through a process, and we have not made a decision,” Newsome said Wednesday afternoon in a statement. “Steve Bisciotti has not told us we cannot sign Colin Kaepernick, nor has he blocked the move. Whoever is making these claims is wrong.”

I have heard enough people say that they will stop supporting these birds if they sign this turd-bird!

I quit watching a couple of years ago when it started getting political - if these players had stuck to sports - just like if the actors had stuck to movies and plays.... The crap they pulled at "Hamilton" turned me off of that....

If they sign him , I'll burn all my ravens stuff and pick another team

11:05 that's the same as me telling you that because you are a (insert occupation) you can't have any personal opinions. You choose to turn on the tv, don't like what's being said? Change the channel or turn it off

Not a fan, but I have been hoping they would not sign. That a$$hat in the home of the Star Spangled Banner is just ridiculous. I understand business and if they feel it must be done it must be done. But Karma is real - remember that John, Ozzie and Steve.

Maryland is a patriotic state. Signing him would be a bad move in my opinion. Biscotti needs to keep Maryland's history in mind.

I believe 1105 was simply making a personal statement of opinion.
Doesn't she / he have that right here on Joe's blog?
Same as you?

I dislike it when commenters tell others what to do based on an opinion with which they differ.
One can simply state, I disagree with you on that topic.

Sometimes, commenters tell others they should "move away from the country in which they were born" because the person expressed an opinion which differed from conventional thinking or propaganda. I for one, sometimes comment that I dislike the US Government and the actions it takes. I dislike the wars in which it engages and do not for a minute believe they make me or any of us more safe. I believe they are about conquest on behalf of the rich people who control the Military Industrial Complex, so on.

1105 was simply stating that she / he stopped watching the NFL and also stopped supporting Hollywood because of their actions. That is the very best way to make a statement!

Thank you

Dont Do It!!!!!

One would think it is better to not comment and not drag the whole team and management in to an unwinnable situation. Nope, not coach Harbaugh. Time for change in drafting broken players and political opinion. Stick to football.

If they don't sign him, will the black people burn down b more again?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that. I don't think the field of play is the correct venue to express a political view, especially in the manner in which this player chose.
The Star Spangled Banner belongs the town of Baltimore. The United States adopted the song as our National Anthem when they realized the songs beauty. This player that disrespected our song has no place in our town. That is my opinion.
The Ravens can make their own decision and I will respect their opinion. I will, however, sever all ties with the team if they decide to hire this player. I will burn my visor and 2 hats along with 3 coats, 2 sweatshirts, 2 long sleeve tshirts and 4 short sleeve tshirts and all decals and the many pictures I have accumulated over the years. During that ceremony I will also respectfully burn a small American Flag that is very tattered and badly worn.

They don't care if you watch or not.

And what if that other team that you pick happens to play the Ravens? Lol! You would have shot yourself in the foot with your BIG WORDS.

You are weird.

He's a self-created pariah so he's reaping what he sowed.

Ravens bosses involved in considering him have fumbled their handling of the question. And painted themselves into a corner.

Don't think even WWF would sign him.

Let's put the political notions aside. He is not a worthy player to start with.

12:10 - you REALLY need to get a life. It's a sport...not a religion.

sign him for one year, I mean half the team is injured and he would be playing with 2nd stringers

Don't sign Kaepernick and Rice is a murder who should be in prison. NFL is a bunch of over paid thugs who would be dealing drugs if they weren't playing football.

Ray LEWIS 332....LEWIS not Rice. Sheesh

I am a nurse by profession. I am appalled at the number of opiod addicted people in the community. Would it be ok for me to refuse to treat them when they are admitted for sepsis due to shooting up drugs? Of course not! How about we keep our personal views separate from our professional arena!!!

He's an overrated clown. He had one good year when he came into the league because NFL defenses weren't prepared for his style of play. He talks out of both sides of his face, one minute he's crying white cops killing black's yet the black on black murders are setting national records, that's impressive. Then he wears a shiri supporting Fidel Castro after everything he did to his own people. He wants attention and recognition just like every top athlete feed their ego's. FU** COLIN KAEPERNICK

12:50, you make absolutely NO sense. They would simply root for the new team, that they picked, to beat the Ravens. You are slow on the uptake.

Disrespectful Kaepernick or RGknee... Good luck this season, Ravens! I'll stay with my team on the other side of the Beltway!!! 😊🏈❤

The media Is Just As Much To Blame ! If All The News And TV Stations Had Simple NOT SHOWN ..and repeatedly SHOWN this disrespectful act !! ...well..To be truthful ..NOBODY wants to see this !!! ( Just my opinion ) !!

I quit watching all NFL games because of the inaction due to kaperdicks actions.
Football has become a pansy sport anyhow. If you touch someone it is a penalty.
Too many games decided by penalty calls not talent
Thought the Ravens had grown up. Guess not

Never liked the Ravens and now I have even more reason not like them in the future. Un-American ingrates like Kaepernick shouldn't even be playing in the NFL at all. He can go find another vision for his life and stay out of the public eye. He doesn't deserve any celebrity status at all.

The Ravens are interested in him because he is AVAILABLE! And available cheap, because no one wants him. He has branded himself a loser, and he will bring a loss of revenue to any team that hires him. I hope the Ravens owner and management are smarter than that.
