Republican healthcare crisis deepens as McConnell hedges

There are new signs of the GOP's inability pass an Obamacare repeal bill, as Republican holdouts balk and the senate leader has begun floating a new way forward.

“If my side is unable to agree on an adequate replacement, then some kind of action with regard to private health insurance markets must occur,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said at a Rotary Club lunch during a trip home to his conservative home state of Kentucky.

"We have an obligation to the American people to try and improve what we currently have. What we do know is the status quo is not sustainable," McConnell said, adding that 'no action is not an alternative.'

Trump promised lower premiums and lower deductibles with better care.

Where is the Senate Bill that will accomplish that?

I would rather see the take a year and get it right rather than pass a bill that we will regret. Unfortunately the establishment Republicans are weak and afraid to lead and make changes to our nation that may hurt their popularity. they are more concerned with re-election than making positive changes.

1:03 - they can't lower premiums unless the print money and send it directly to the insurance companies and doctors.

They need to write a law that supports the people - and tell the insurance companies to work inside that framework. As long as they are cow-towing to the insurance companies - the paying taxpayers are footing the bill - and they'll object...meaning it won't pass! If they don't write it for the people - leaving out the insurance company special interest groups...it won;t pass either - they can do both and the people will reelect them - without the insurance company political donations!

Where-s the backbone!?

Somehow, someway, they must find a way to protect corporate profits in the Health Care Industry.
At the same time, if they can make the public feel like they tried to look out for them, then that is an added plus.
Mr. Trump will be able to blame the lack of action on the Congress.
The Congress will be able to blame the lack of action on Mr. Trump.
Everybody in Washington wins and the contributors who matter (corporations) are vey happy.

McConnell is the problem he only cares about corporate profits he doesn't give a crap about the American people. The smartest (and most honest) person in the senate is Rand Raul.
