Line in the Sand: Next Spending Bill Must Fund President Trump’s Border Wall

House Freedom Caucus chairman Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) told Breitbart News exclusively that the next government spending bill must fund President Donald Trump’s promised border wall, or there will likely be a government shutdown.

In a phone interview on Monday morning, Meadows—the chairman of the most influential group of House conservatives in Congress, the House Freedom Caucus—said that there are enough members in Congress to hold the line against any funding bill that does not explicitly provide for the beginning of construction of President Trump’s border wall.

What’s more, Meadows says, his conversations with President Trump indicate that the president is supportive of such efforts and would veto—or refuse to sign—any government funding bill that falls short of the commitments necessary to begin construction on the border wall.

“There is nothing more critical that has to be funded than funding the border wall for two reasons,” Meadows, a key ally of President Trump, said in his phone interview with Breitbart News. “One is it is a commitment that the president made to the American people and one that he intends on keeping, but the second part of that is for our national security we must secure our borders. And the American people will accept no less.”

Build the wall and add electricity, that way it won't have to be too tall, saving money. The politician are afraid to spend the money, in fear of cutting back on their perks (what they steal).

Yes, fund the wall above all else. Every inch of it will profit us greatly! Security is paramount!

Not a chance.

Always funny when people regurgitate fake news and then think they look smart. The only thing it does is reveal they're sheeple nature.

There is no security value to a wall along our Southern border. Because of the terrain, there will always be gaps. Because of trade, there will always be holes the size of four-lane highways.

Why would we need funding for the wall? What an absurd request... we were promised that Mexico was paying for that wall..

11:41...Mexico will pay for the wall by us not paying them upon arrival to this great nation. If you want to pay them, do so yourself. I have my own family to look after.

Nope. No.... pretty sure that wasn't what was promised. Not sure how you make those mental gymnastics work... but a wall is not gonna stop anything from coming to this country illegally, but that's not the point.

The point is that what was promised was that Mexico was paying for this wall. Not tax payers.

Ipso facto... no need for funding.
