I have some bittersweet news to share. July 15th is the end of my contract with @47ABC. July 14th will be my final day on the air.
With only about 2 weeks left, I wanted you all to know what an honor it has been to deliver the news of Delmarva for the past 6 and a half years.
As is typical of the TV news business, change happens fairly quickly. In May, negotiations with the station ended. Since we could not come to an agreement that worked for both sides, I started looking for new employment opportunities.
I am so very happy to announce that I have accepted an investigative reporter job at WGRZ - Channel 2, the NBC affiliate in Buffalo, NY.
(Yes, I know what you're thinking...there will be snow. Lots of snow 😉.)
I am so grateful for the friends and relationships I've made while working at 47 ABC. I thank the station for giving me this opportunity to tell your stories over the past few years. It's a privilege that I do not take lightly.
The Delmarva community has been wonderful to my family and me. That's why I didn't want to wait until my last day to share this news with you.
Thank you for your trust and, of course, for watching!

Hopefully they have better teleprompters there because she couldn't read the ones here!!
local stations just can't pony up enough dough to keep the good talent.
Emily Lampa has done a very good job here. Enjoyed watching Emily more than anyone there.
Best wishes in the future!
Investigative reporter? Yeah, everyone thinks they are the next Woodward & Bernstein. Investigative reporters these days are lower than whale poop.
What's wrong...you're all just jealous another one has found a way off the shore....
8:00 PM...yeah, but to Buffalo? You do realize this is on the eastern shore of Lake Erie right? Have you ever heard of lake effect snow? Talking about feet, not inches.
Congratulations on advancing your career. Hope you have just begun a long successful journey. Best wishes and all good luck to you.
Joe i remembery her covering your mayor race she gave snarky looks when talking about you ......bye bye asian snowflake.
lol.
Make sure you eat some wings at the Anchor Bar!!
Best wishes....and snow aint the ONLY thing "HOT" in Buffalo. They actually have great wings too!!!!!!!
I too wish you a successful career on your new endeavor. Yes, I'm sure you'll experience more winter memories than here on the shore. Really enjoyed watching your time on WMDT. Good luck
I've sure enjoyed Lampa and I wish her lots of luck in her new job. We'll miss her.
Sorry to see her leave, who will be the anchor. have heard Lenita Wesson is leaving on August because her husband's job is transferring him out of state.
Enjoyed the woman power and wish Ms Lampa good luck on her new job. Will have to go back to watching .wboc
News industry is being downsized with the birth of News Aggregators which is how Limbaugh got started. You just collect information from multiple sources and assemble/report it. Same as Drudge and Breightbart. The traditional delivery of news has shifted to the Howard Stern model of "shock jock". No real news, just words to piss people off and get their attention.
I personally no longer watch any broadcast news. Got so tired of being told for hours in the evening "details at 11".
You will be Greatly missed by many! I have loved
hearing you report the News to us "in your own Special
Way! Channel 47 will never be the same!----You Made it
worth watching !!!
Good Luck with your new Adventures .
So long -- not surprised. That witch that runs WMDT drives all good persons away.
Wish her the best!
You will be replaced by a 20 year old pretty moobatt newsreader that is clueless and has no idea she's being used by idiot handlers to spread propaganda.
We will miss your reporting of the news.
True dat!
I saw her walking out the station a month ago, she is a HOTTIE. I Amost drove into a bench.
Most folks don't understand that WMDT is a springboard station for TV journalists trying to get to a higher rated broadcast area. Buffalo is a big jump. Congrats to you, Emily and best of luck in your climb to bigger and better things.
Don't forget to pack winter tights, boots and gloves. The winds can be brutal in buffalo.
Kathleen is not the reason people come and go. It's the nature of the small market stations...kind of like an intense internship. Kathleen has done more for our community than most of us. Don't badmouth her or her talented employees.
good Byyyyyyyeeeewwe
take day and duncan wit ya.
people really think that much about a newscaster? they are all the same to me. just read the script their corp hands them
You will be missed! Good Luck with the new job.
I wish her well but I don't think she was very good. She stumbled a lot on her words and probably during her contract negotiations she found out she wasn't worth the money she thought she commanded.
$8.75 per hour reporters.
Being a true investigative reporter is a whole new ball game for any TV talking head from around here. I hope that she remembers how to do it.
Sorry to see her leave. I wish her and her family good luck.
Understanding this is a vast upward movement for her, she will be missed here. Have always enjoyed Lampa's input at WMDT. Another good one slips away meaning we'll get some inexperienced novice as her replacement. If WMDT paid their employees well, they might not lose some whom enjoy reporting on Delmarva. The local stations never learn: you can't sell the glam TV life (paying lower salaries) in the sticks.
Enjoy the weather.
God Bless you and your family and wish you much success with your future, your a class act.
Best wishes and enjoy the snow!!
Thanks for your input, Kathleen!
She is beautiful.
I won't miss her, or anyone else from these local stations because I don't watch them. Local stations everywhere make up the total of fake news stations nationwide. They insult your intelligence and you don't even realize it. Just look at the quality of their reporting and those "feel good" shows they do on air.
I want news, not opinions. I don't want smiling faces staring at me on FB from one of their promotional look-at-me ads. When popularity contests began, newsworthy reporting went out the window.
And I suspect I am not alone and that is ONE of the reasons Joe's blog have such huge numbers of visits.
She did a real good job on the Lyme disease story that she did. She was ahead of the MSM on that one. Will miss her. Feel badly for her family moving to all that snow. There will be a shock to their systems.
I will miss her wonderful DSL's.
They all start here as 20 somethings fresh out of college and then move on to bigger things. This is a small time TV market and they have to start at the small ones to get some experience before moving up in the world. In other words, don't get too attached to any of them because they won't stay here long.
I hate the constant references to check their website for details. I'm watching the news, don't want to check your website. If I had wanted to see the website, I wouldn't be watching the news on TV.
We loved Emily - she was the best news person in this town.
WMDT will miss her for sure.
well.....bye
Robots will soon replace them anyway.
47 News + no pay = high talent turnover rate.
vah vah vah vah!
Em - You/fam always have a home here on the shore!!!!
I will miss seeing Lenita! Where are they moving too. Sad to see her leaving too.
I know i am late but we just realized you were gone, thought maybe you were on vakay...We are gonna miss you sooooo
much......you were the ONLY reason we watched WMDT. The wife and I love you my dear. May GOD bless and keep you and your family...Be well my friend and thank you much for your service to the Eastern Shore.
