Lawmakers in North Carolina are beholden to those taxpayers and want to make sure that their expenditures don’t become a reward to drug users. Now, welfare applicants are required to take a drug screening test, in order to qualify for benefits.
SOME BACKGROUND
2013: North Carolina lawmakers pass a law requiring state temporary cash assistance recipients to go through drug screening to receive their benefits.
2015 to 2016: nearly 30,000 residents apply for the state’s Work First Program (or temporary cash assistance). Each applicant went through drug screening (interview, questionnaire, etc.) and based on the results of the screening, 400 applicants were required to get drug tested. Fifty applicants tested positive (about 12% of those required to get tested) which is less than 1% of those screened.

All of them should be mandatory tested if receiving tax dollars in any manner. Also they should be spot checked any time. As a holder of CDL license I am required by these standards and I work for my money.
So assumptions were grossly wrong on this - THATS ok. When one does NOTHING that is bad. NC did something and the results were not what they ASSUMED - fine, now move on.
Don't stand there dumbfounded when the results were not what YOU wanted.
But don't continue to drug test because your constituents WILL think you're on a witch hunt and won't re-elect you. THINK outside of the box for a solution that makes you happy as well as your constituents. (Basic Politics 101)
12:21 I can pass a drug test even after smoking pot, so what??? IF I can do it someone else can too, especially if they know they will need assistance and know when to apply... And most hard drugs only stay in your system on average of 3 days, so what??? So on the 4th day I go get tested and pass...
I am in favor of people being drug tested before they get any tax payers money to help them live... Yes there are people out here who actually need help and go about it by the book, and some not... I don't care if it was 1/10th of a percent who was tested positive for drugs, it is 1/10 of a percent of people who won't be getting free money of mine which I work hard for, so they can get food or drugs when I work and can barley buy anything... And guess what, find other ways to stop the abuse of these services and systems and even more people will be found out... Get rid of the illegals or make it so they can't get free shit and eventually finding all these things and fixing them will help in the end, even though you might think it is a drop in a bucket... You have to start somewhere, PERIOD!!!!
If everyone had the mind set like you, nothing would get done or fixed or solved... And that is the biggest problem of them all...
Don't forget that there is also the possibility that because they might get drug tested, the addicts didn't apply.
1:03 How much money did you pay in federal income tax for 2016?
Crickets!!!! The biggest mouths on here about how tax money is spent probably get refunds every year from earned income credits and child tax credits. Try paying estimated taxes every quarter of $10-12K. Broke rednecks crack me up. Trump isn't going to do anything for you. Wait until all the people that get their welfare cut join the workforce and are competing with you for the minimum skill/wage jobs.
He's mostly right. Not everyone, but the majority. The median income is somewhere around $38K/year or just over $18/hr. if employed full time.
Well said....love it, and oh, that 6:11pm bragged about voting for Hillary at the polls.
Zorro the gay blade. Wasn't that a movie in the 80's? Whatever, I'm 6:11 and a republican. Where does it say I voted for Hillary. Nowhere! I just pointed out that there are many die hard republicans that believe Trump is going to make their life better. It is no different than the poor democrats that thought Obama was going to make them wealthy or improve their social standing. An old indian chief once said the right wing and the left wing are both from the same bird! Think about it.
Random test them and you'll get different results for sure..most welfare people are on drugs.
