Delaware Auto Exchange Is A Great Buying Experience

Last Thursday evening a few of us decided to drive to Felton Delaware to look for a clean used pickup truck for our Grandson. It's hard to believe this young guy is of age to actually drive but one thing is for sure, he's earned it.

For starters, his grades are always honor roll level. To top it off, he's been working his tail off every summer as well as every single weekend during the school year. He has earned and saved 100% of every penny he's earned and is ready to purchase his own vehicle for cash.

As you can see from the pictures above, we were successful in finding the perfect starter truck for this young man and he couldn't be more excited. While we were there I came across a Prius I just couldn't resist buying. To top it all off, my friend was also able to find the perfect pickup truck he had been searching for and ultimately purchased it as well.

To give you a good idea of just how well worth the trip it is to search for a used vehicle at an auction, I purchased both the 4x4 Ranger and the Prius for exactly $2,700.00 each. There is a buyers fee, (around $250.00) and while these auctions can be very exciting, you really do need to know when to fold on a particular vehicle you like. I've been going to auctions most of my life and know when to walk away. Then again, there are many cases where you can absolutely steal a deal and or buy something you really want to have.

If you'd like to learn more about Delaware Auto Exchange, they just put up a new Website that allows you to look at their inventory in advance for each upcoming auction HERE. They hold these auctions on Thursday and Saturday each week. Good Luck and Enjoy!

From Just another proud G Ma

Good job Joe’s grandson.

Our oldest grandson and grand daughter both started working summers and week ends at age 12. Their parents required them to save 1/4 toward college, 1/4 toward a vehicle, 1/4 went to charity, and 1/4 they could spend on “wants”. At the end of each year their parents match, dollar for dollar. the amounts in their college savings fund. They each have to pay their own phone bill. G son graduates from college in June and will have full time job for company he interned at for past two years. G daughter starts College August 2017 Both have good marks. G son received sports and academic scholarships along the way. It is looking like G daughter will also.

They are members of a large family and received money gifts for birthdays and Christmas. Gift money is divided between “wants” account and vehicle savings accounts.

9:46, Thanks for sharing. That's a great plan and it's no wonder all of you should be very proud. We seem to be the last generation of setting such examples.

If you buy a car, do they give you temp tags to get it home? Just
wondering how you get your purchase home without a car trailer. Thanks

2:58, Yes, they give you temp tags. You have to come in there with $400.00 CASH and register. You must also bring proof of insurance. The tags are a part of the fee they charge. In my case it was a part of the $250.00 they charge you to purchase each vehicle. You also want to make sure you bring someone else to drive the vehicle home. This past week we didn't have enough drivers to get all the vehicles home so we had to return early Friday morning to get the final vehicle. Keep in mind, if you charge the vehicle on a credit card they charge you an additional 3% of the purchase price. So bring as much cash as you can to save the extra 3%.
