As Seen On Facebook: 80% Rentals Too

That's probably pretty accurate when you count the legal ones, too.

Anonymous said...

And 80% are on probation.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like Jake Day is Butthurt and commenting about you.

You people sound pathetic. At least there's movement in this city. A marathon or a bike race brings money from other places here and you just sit on your a$$es complaining. This is fresh money we don't have in our community now and if the experience is good, they'll come back. Bitching and complaining accomplishes nothing. Get up and do something. A$$barro sits and does NOTHING but spewing hate and blame. (Okay, so he ran for Mayor, he lost and has done nothing productive since). We all need to do something, it's not one persons job, it's all our job to make it better. What have you personally done? That's the challenge!

Go to a nursing home. It's 100%.

1:13, Thanks for sharing.

It's interesting. A marathon bike race, WOW! Perhaps we can call it, baby steps, because that's exactly what a small mind that makes such a statement thinks.

Sitting on my ass? Well, let's see. I get up at 3:00 AM every day. If Jake, or anyone else thinks what I do every day is worthless or meaningless, why make such a comment in the first place.

My goal with Salisbury News was to 100% change our local media, I did it. They are exposing more news then ever before. Crime was probably the biggest issue and the local media covered it up. Now they expose the Most Wanted. Where they slack, we deliver and they follow.

As for the mayoral race, someone has to win and someone has to lose. There can't be two winners, period. However, ONE can propose a vision, all of which they FOLLOWED. While I may have done it differently, it IS being done. You're welcome Salisbury. No, my name will never be named for that progress, at least there is progress. Mind you, Jim and Jake have always used the cowards way of doing things, they are right, there is progress.

As for saying it's every one's job to make progress happen, BS! It takes a vision, follow up and then closure. That takes a LEADER. A leader with experience and NOT depend on certain special interests, (see my post tomorrow morning at 9:07 AM).

I make no excuses. It's no one's business what I've done since the mayoral election but let me assure each and every one of you there's been NO REST. I have accomplished more in the past 3 years then ANYONE I know of, especially Jake Day. In fact, I have probably done more in the past 3 years then they will do in their entire lifetime and I'm very serious.

Finally, thank God things turned out the way they did. The key here is NOT how happy the nay sayers are implying I've not done anything. The key is, my happiness. I owe no one any explanation. I stood up, like no one else did and I put my money where my mouth is. Yet these commenters hide behind Anonymous and make such claims/statements. Life is good!

"This is fresh money we don't have in our community now and if the experience is good, they'll come back"

Come back??? For what? There is nothing here to come back to. This isn't exactly a vacation destination. Let's go to Smallsbury this year for vacation, said no one ever.

Naive and delusional comment.

They can spend all this money on crap, like cops with autism stickers as their emblem, new city cars with the gay pride stripes as sidewalk crossings and they can't even paint or put a new sign up welcoming you to their shitty city...

There is a latent benefit to this posting and that is that Roger Jones at Jonesigns got some free publicity.

Thug.

Anonymous said...

And what will they do with that money ? pay more to the Welfare thug crowd ?

1:13 you're full of crap. How about bringing businesses here to stay and hire people. Provide jobs in Salisbury beside retail & food industry. We already have the SU marathon. There are so many abandoned commercial properties that need to be fill. Ride up Naylor Mill Road & Snow Hill road and see how many empty businesses there are. The former Gruman's building next to the civic center now is gonna be a place for offices and yet the other ones they can't even get occupied. Mayor Day needs to bring some jobs here instead of being a wanna be athlete.

How about the fact that we have no real grocery stores here in Salisbury! Just Acme and Food lion. In Easton, which is just a little smaller than Salisbury, you have: Safeway, Giant, Aldi (Which just opened), Giant Food, Harris Teeter, and of course they have a Nicer Acme that is better staffed, and Food Lion.
Why in hell can't we a least get a Harris Teeter or an Aldi store here? Why do I have to drive to Easton or Annapolis to find better selection and service? Annapolis has Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. I blame the chamber of commerce and the Mayor and city government for the lack of any real businesses in this town. Bury is a good slogan for this town, because it is dead and buried!!!!!!! At least Cambridge and Easton have done something with their downtown to attract business and restaurants. Salisbury has done little to nothing on this front!!!

80% Idiots!

Anonymous said...

EVERYONE is complaining about smallsbury, it's not just Joe. Hell some of us had enough and moved out. So you better find many more ways to bring in that 'fresh money' to replace what you are losing when others like myself move away.

And guess what, people will ALWAYS complain until it gets better. So be prepared to hear a lot of complaining until then, anonymous or not. Everyone knows if they put their TRUE name out there they will be targeted. That's a no brainer. But you can keep trying to out them if you want.

2:31 There is money in Talbot county and Easton. Salisbury not so much.

2:26 & others, Today a new donut shop opened up in Salisbury and everyone is going crazy with excitement over it. What a very sad area we live in.

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs! Where are they? Liberals like Ireton and Day demand a higher minimum wage, which will destroy small mom and pop local shops. Now we ALL know why a new donut shop is so exciting and all other fast food businesses, it's all they've got left.

Salisbury didn't deserve me.

Anonymous said...

Funny how its a Marathon. So many folks are running out of the city already!!lol Run Forrest Run!!!

Anonymous said...

Just wait until we get a Cracker Barrel! We'll be on the road to success.

Anonymous said...

Legalize it

Anonymous said...

2:49. 🤣🤣🤣💩💩💩💩

Anonymous said...

Every donut sold is one less sold across the street at DD. And if there is a donuts for life convert Salisbury becomes unhealthier. Wise up folks this is NOT GROWTH.

Anonymous said...

Hey, everybody.....IF IT IS SO BAD GO TO CANADA.....THEY HAVE OPEN BORDERS!! We don't need ya, you are only causing the drug user / idiot percentages to stay up!!! SO GET THE HELL OUT and help our numbers improve!! Bye Bye

Anonymous said...

I was proud to be born and raised in this town of Salisbury. But now I find it sad and embarrassing to even live here. Yes, I would like to relocate but can't just move and leave my residence with a sale sign on it. The value has dropped and dropped as I have dumped money on update's through the years. This town has not had good men in office for a long time and keeps going downhill. These fun and game idea's don't increase progress. It is disheartening to watch a council meeting with the dramatics. Lord help us.

Anonymous said...

So legalize them and stop burdening our economy.

Anonymous said...

Joe at 2:49 - AMEN. They didn't get it then and they don't get it now. You were the last, best hope for the City and County. It isn't just Day, Culver isn't a shining star either.

Anonymous said...

3:26 We did. Moved south and took our money with us. Hope you enjoy paying more taxes as each person with money moves. I was going to build a waterfront home that would have raised the property taxes by $7k/per year. Too many hassles in MD. Bought a beautiful waterfront home with pool and dock right next to house not a 100' set back with a mound septic system.

Anyone want to guess how many millionaires have moved out of Salisbury, let alone Maryland? If you know of any, list their names -----GO:

Anonymous said...

The names are not listed but there are reports from the state that show the numbers of people with income over a million by county from tax filings. The numbers have decreased over the past 10 years.

Anonymous said...

Regarding the grocery stores in Easton: Why are prices lower at the Acme in Easton than in the Salisbury store? When we heard Acme was buying Giant, I scoped out the Acme in Easton to see what to expect. But when the store opened here, specific items I had checked in Easton were more expensive here. Prices should be the same for all their stores, not more expensive in a poorer area.

Culver needs to address the number of Wicomico residents who claim other counties or states as their primary residence. Every week I learn of another high income individual who is doing that. How in the H#LL will the rest of us be able to support this county? And what about property values? It is getting to the point that it is better to take the loss just to get out. What has Culver done to address any of this?

Anonymous said...

Curious where you landed. My next move will be a southern migration!

Anonymous said...

Maybe the signs of Culver and Hogan saying were open for business should be over top the above sign.

Just sit back and think, How many good jobs have been brought in this county in the last 28 months.

Anonymous said...

Salisbury: The income per capita is $21,763, which includes all adults and children. The median household income is $37,131.

Easton: The income per capita is $29,985, which includes all adults and children. The median household income is $51,220.

Salisbury's rental vs. homeowner occupied properties is roughly 75/25.
Easton's is 40/60.

Anonymous said...

Maybe the Mayor will see the light when participants in the marathon get mugged in the 'bury.

Anonymous said...

80% on some kind of taxpayer assistance also.

Anonymous said...

Sad. Salisbury used to be a decent place to raise your family and work a good job. Now it's just a cesspool of garbage due to radical bad mayors like Barrie, Jimmy and the Jakester. Glad my grandparents are all gone so they never saw this place go to pot. They loved living here but those were the days before it became a drug infested haven ushered in with lunatic liberal losers.

nothing can ever be the fault of only one person totally. citizens had a hand in it too. everybody wants everybody else to take responsibility for themselves but rarely accept it themselves. much easier to blame others.

while blaming others may have merit one cannot forget to look at themselves and see what role they played as well.

Not trying to argue with you just trying to share a larger and deeper meaning.

True about the 80% and the remaining 20% think drugs are a disease. What angers me is drugs and alcohol are choices, they are not a disease like cancer, heart trouble, MS, etc. People make the choice same as someone eating 3 subs a day, someone eating until they could not fit in their door or get on rides at an amusement park. Real diseases are no fault of your own, they grew in you from birth or later in life. Addiction of any kind should not be a disease no one forced it on you, fed it to you just get help we don't have to give it a category it just doesn't fit!!!

Anonymous said...

People that own the rentals are the ones responsible for the decline of the city.

Anonymous said...

People who have lived a sheltered life don't realize that this is the everywhere situation.

Anonymous said...

1:39 It would appear that you and 99% of the doctors are not on the same page. I think I'll go with the trained medical professionals on this one.

Anonymous said...

2:45 It is NOT an everywhere situation. We have homes in two other states and divide our time there. Over the past 4 years, we have dramatically reduced the time we spend in this area due to the deterioration of Salisbury and the surrounding area. Just this year there have been arrests made in the developments of Westbury and Centennial for drug manufacturing/distribution. The scourge is spreading. The police have lost control of of the people. Most young blacks have no fear of being arrested or going to jail.

We have minimal rentals and drug problems where our other homes are located. This is due to two main factors: Home prices exceed $500K and there are few minorities. There is no trash on the streets, no unkempt properties and the local police force is vigilant in patrolling the neighborhoods as well as being involved in community events.

Get out while you can. Pack up, move and start over. There are plenty of places where jobs are plentiful and the cost of living is reasonable.
