Anne Arundel sees 16 opioid overdoses, three of them fatal, within 24 hours

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY (WBFF) - Three people died and 13 others overdosed on opiates within a 24-hour stretch in Anne Arundel County, confirmed police Wednesday evening.

As of 3:45 a.m., three adults were dead, in Glen Burnie, Pasadena and Linthicum, said Lt. Ryan Frashure. One of the deaths was not from heroin per se.

Most of the reported overdoses were in the northern and western parts of the county, he said.

"This has not been an issue overnight. Heroin has been an issue with us for the past two to three years," said Frashure, adding the numbers often fluctuate. "This definitely does stand out as one of our higher 24-hour periods."
