Some people had a trick to keep the record from skipping.  What was yours?

penny was too heavy, it would wear out the needle to quick plus groove the record.

It depended on the weight of the tone arm to begin with. Some really cheap ones can be so light it would take up tp three pennys to keep it in the groove.

If you had to use 3 pennies, the problem wasn't a light tone arm(they are supposed to be light) but a scratched/dirty record or a warped/out of true turntable.
