Ocean City requests state, federal transit funding

Anyone wanting to weigh in on Ocean City government’s annual request for state and federal transit funding has until Feb. 24 to request a public hearing.

Transit Administrative Manager Brian Connor said the fiscal year 2018 annual transportation plan includes more than $29 million for operating and capital items.

“This is an annual application which we submit to the Maryland Transit Administration that also gets forwarded to the Federal Transit Administration,” he said. “It requests grant funding for the fiscal year 2018 to help offset the expenses we occur.”

Although not expecting the specific amount requested, Connor said it is vital Ocean City communicates its needs.

They have always done that. That is how they get their bus depots / bus shelters / garage / bus wash / security cameras and buses. The way they take care of their equipment is a shame. They allow it to be trashed and hire drivers who cannot drive the equipment unless it is in a straight line. Total waste of tax dollars.
