Combatting State Puppy Mill Problem

BALTIMORE (WJZ)– Unknown numbers of dogs born in puppy mills in Maryland may finally get the attention they desperately need. Political reporter Pat Warren has more on a plan to require certain breeders to be licensed.

Puppy mills by definition are not a good thing. They are large scale breeding facilities that put profit ahead of the animals’ well-being.

Jim is one of 300 pomeranians rescued from a puppy mill in Wicomico County last year.

“Unfortunately we don’t know how bad the puppy mill problem is in the state of Maryland because our laws are so weak no puppy mills have to be registered with the counties in which they’re located and registered with the State,” said Chloe Waterman of the Maryland ASPCA.

There was no excuse for the puppy mill in Eden to have even happened if competent people were in place. A bunch of inbred idiots they are. They were warned by officials from a neighboring county about the people and did nothing. They should have made periodic checks of the Murphy's but because they are inbred idiots their brains didn't have the capacity to grasp this preventive measure. What a bunch of stupid people in that county. Dumber than dirt. No wonder most of that county is a S***HOUSE. You can have all the laws in place in the world but when you are dealing with low IQ inbreds supposed to enforce nothing will prevent puppy mills from flourishing.

Wow, you sure paint Wicomicans with a broad brush! There are intelligent people here, as everywhere, as well as those lacking, as everywhere. There is a lot of beauty here, and I hope that someday you'll be able to see it.

You can pay a fortune for a puppy mill dog or you can adopt love and you will swear they know they were saved by the amount of love you get in return. LOVE my adopted little guy.

Well that happens when you have employees at animal control and the human society that want answer phone calls or return them they just fired the Black officer for putting someone's dog down without letting them now about it,came in the yard cut there lock on the fence did not post a notice.

They need to clean house there the hole place is a joke, new director same old shit was supposed to come in there and clean house fire everyone hire new people and that has not happened yet,the bad thing is you have a female officer there that can't get along with any of the male officers because she fills threaten that may take her job so she does her best to throw them under the bus when something goes wrong.

Huh 4:09. Did you actually read and comprehend the comment. No one painted the residents of the county with a broad brush! Go back and read it this time. It clearly states the officials who were warned about the people are the ones who are incompetent dopes.

Not only were they warned but numerous complaints were called in by neighbors and people inquiring about puppies. The whole entire staff should be shown the door. Drain the swamp. They allowed the puppy mill to exist because they are useless. The money they cost taxpayers by their ineptitude is astronomical.

Yes, the H.S. was warned by Dorchester County these
people were in Wicomico County and YES, Mr. Firtzgearld,
acting Director at the time ----said he went to view the
Mill & they were in compliance with the LAWS OF THE COUNTY.
( The Mill had been reported to Mr. Fitzgearld by a neighbor
who in turn wrote an Editorial about his complaint & the
reply from the H.S. Director )
I understand Fitzgearld now hold
s another position with
our beloved County. Why do you think nothing was done
about his negligence-----Because it would cost money to
press charges against him & that is exactly what should
have been done because he is just as guilty as the Mill owners
for not rescuing those animals when the complaint was filed
& he , as he stated , viewed the situation.
This town should be in an uproar about this ----but as with all
things----those in power let it linger on.
THESE BREEDERS WERE NOT LICENSED WITH
WICOMICO COUNTY------THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN ACCORDING
TO THE LAWS HERE!!!

Joe , and yes, I've found the LAWS ,as 11:18 stated, the
Counties should follow. Note this was passed in 2011 .
I am hoping you will keep this article up front
so others can see what COUNTIES in MD are required
to do regarding Breeders. People need to know the
truth of the total neglect that went on with this Puppy
Mill Situation in SBY.
Perhaps you could Post this differently then the way
this article is posted in hopes it will let more people
KNOW what the Laws require of it's leaders .
