Senators Question Comcast, Charter About “Broadcast TV” & “Regional Sports” Fees

The 115th Congress only just came into town and got properly sworn in and down to business on Tuesday, but returning members aren’t wasting any time picking their favorite projects back up. And so, only a few days into the new year, a pair of senators are turning on Charter and Comcast to ask what, exactly, those two think they’re doing with their pricing schemes.

I've taken issue with them & refused to pay those fees. They threaten to cancel me. I say do it. I did cut back on my service which I'm quite happy with & it costs half as much. economy digital. I miss 37, 38, & 39 but that's it. If more objected rather than blindly paying, we wouldn't need an act of congress.

6:14 are you really that clueless? stop paying? so then what? can you say monopoly? I have little to no choice, poor satellite reception or comcast. yup nothing wrong with that picture! the local governments charge me a franchise fee which is in effect a right of monopoly for the cable company. so we are actually paying comcast to screw us! comcast and politicians what a combination! can't even get hi speed internet because comcast is suing to prevent verizon from putting in new lines!

You have two other choices; cut the cord and watch broadcast HDTV or move to where you can get the services you want.

We are allowed to have more than one cable company in our city and county be the politicians are paid off.

so then you just may have to do without. it wouldn't kill you. what's the diff?
how do you wring monopoly out of a monopoly? again it won't kill you.

That's just it. We have no choice. For the money, we should.

I emailed Bob Culver concerning this. My basic internet service went from 69.95 to 75 dollars per month. All I have now is internet through comcast, I canceled the Cable tv because my monthly bill went from 85 to 110 per month and I refuse to pay a hundred dollars a month for basic cable and internet. I though it was outrageous when it was just 60 per month, then it went to 70, and not 75. They are ripping us off. There is competition in both Easton and Cambridge. Cambridge has baycounty and comcast, Easton has Easton Utilities, and Comcast. Where there is competition, there are cheaper rates. I think the citizens of this county deserve better than this! Culver, I hope you are reading this. You never replied to my email or called at the phone number I left you!!!

Call or write your local representatives. Call or write to the county council and demand an answer. I wrote a letter Bob Culver. I have yet to hear back from him. If enough people call or write about this, maybe we can at least get an answer from these people. I am certain that as a monopoly forced on us by a lack of competition, they many have broken some type of anti trust law. I am certain we are not getting fair pricing. They know people like me are cutting cable so they are going after everyone who has a comcast account.

The government claims there is NO inflation when electric bills, cable bills, medical insurance premiums, home and auto insurance rate are all rising. Social increase last year was 0.0% and this year it is a miserly 0.3%. The Social Security increase was applied to the increased Medicare Premium, not to the recipient.

Fired them several years ago. Still alive. Still smiling. Still using the copious extra cash for real life activities. Not that tough. Try it; you'll like it!
