Dover speedway removing more seats

DOVER — Section by section, row by row and seat by seat, large chunks of the grandstands that once nearly circled the entirety of Dover International Speedway are disappearing.

More than likely, they will never return.

Due to an extended sputtering economy and a declining interest in NASCAR over recent years, officials at Dover are downsizing the track’s seating capacity for a third time in order to get rid of some of the large pockets of empty seats that have glaringly stood out at its races the past several years.

Just wait. If our jobs come back, we'll be able to afford tickets!

Until NASCAR returns to its roots as "Stock Car" racing, I will refuse to watch

Too many rule changes, poor parking, $100+ tickets and drunk rednecks.....no thanks. Even when offered free tickets, I don't go anymore.

Sad, I remember going there back in 2005 for the June race and it was an awesome experience and not to mention it was sold out. We went to both races this year and it was a noticeable change. A lot of empty seats. Anyway, hate seeing I like that, hope it regains some popularity in the future.

First of NASCAR is a joke.....went to one race in Dover in 2007 and dropped nearly 600 dollars between tickets and food for 2 adults and 1 child...wasn't able to meet a driver and the race sucked...go to a large NHRA event...spent around 40$ a person and saw all the drivers....too many autographs to count and had a blast....NASCAR is overpriced and boring.

Wait!! Drunk rednecks?? That doesn't happen at family functions. Ask that stupid idiot what happened at the Chris Young Country Music Concert, the first night they sold alcohol there. Three major fights and a drunk woman extracted from the nosebleed seats. Don't let Bob Culver tell you she passed out due to drugs they found in her purse(not in her system, btw). Don't also let Bob Culver tell you there weren't three major fights going on. I talked to 6 of my friends who worked Security in the Civic Center. What about the numerous police cars from the Wicomico Sheriff's Office, the Maryland State Police and the Salisbury Police Department. I go to all the Country Music Concerts and I can tell you I have never ever seen Maryland State Troopers inside the Wicomico YOUTH and Civic Center assisting Wicomico Deputies for anything. There were beer bottles and miniture liquor bottles on the floor after the concert. Too bad Bob Culver wasn't smart enough to look up who had the seats the bottles were found under and to question them. There was bear thrown on everyone and my children have bear spilt on them.

Soaring tickets sales. Too many rules. NASCAR did this to themselves. Nothing to do with economy. MAKE NASCAR GRAT AGAIN,,
