Some kind of situation going on at Bennett High.... lots of police cars.... students told to stay in their classrooms.... something to do with groups of students fighting or something... not exactly clear on it.

UPDATE: There are currently 5 County vehicles on the scene.

UPDATE #2: We're told as many as 20 students were involved and that this may be a lingering issue from what happened there the other day.

All these students should be expelled from this school immediately.

Daughter called in a code yellow shelter in place. Its not about the color of the problem but the lack character of the thugs and parents. Lack of family values in the home. Decades of Fatherless children, generations destroyed..All encouraged by the welfare system. supported and funded by the democratic party.

I think they definitely need to beef up security around there for a while until whatever is going on there dies down

Thug life in da bury.

It's a struggle to see who's in charge...Gangs vs Administrators.

And who didn't see this coming?

So sad that this is happening in our schools! What a sad commentary on the lack of discipline and acceptable behavior!

I heard a thug struck a teacher... I can't wit until we have an elected BOE and can remove these thugs from the school system.

These are the offspring of ECI criminals .

Teachers hands are tied because of the liberal bureaucratic bull crap.

They need to hold the parents accountable with fines or jail time.

10:29 BINGO!

You know nothing about the people involved you should not make assumptions

Progress report came out yesterday.

Spot on 9:50!

Maybe the people commenting on these so called "thugs" should come in and walk the halls with the students come to school for a whole week. Instead of looking from the outside in.

Expel all involved until it is sorted out and then maintain a 3 strike and your out policy. Send all people with 3 strikes to alternative school or just kick them out.

Section 8 rewards women to have kids out of wedlock. Wonderful system... the more kids...the more money for mom. 20 years ago I rented to some of these people and over 90% don't deserve children. Cooking drugs on the stove and so on. 12 year old kids with crack pipes and old revolvers Maybe they wouldn't have so many if they had to pay for them. Mom doesn't have to work and gets money for everything, I have filled out forms to verify address for about everything you need to live with children including babysitting money. Wake up America they are multiplying faster than the working man and soon the working man will be out voted. They are now by popular vote.

One of my co-workers children is there and was scared to death. Said she was 'trampled' by other students trying to get away.

@12:01 your right I bet they no nothing of the situation but I'm willing to bet they hit the nail on the head !!

Anonymous said...

Hard to hold parents responsible when students involved in this sort of thing don't know who they are.

Anonymous said...

12:08 try spending a year with these savages. You wonder why so many teachers are getting out of the field? I hate to inform you but Hillary lost, those who wish discipline and law and order seemed to push your wet panty liberals to the side. Now, 8 years later, maybe we can have some "hope and change".

Anonymous said...

Don't expel anyone lock them up in solitary confinement at school!

WCBOE "takes the safety of administration and staff very seriously" lieslieslies

When respect, standards, and discipline are taken out of the schools and there are no consequences for inappropriate behavior then you have anarchy.Three strike rule:3rd time you are a behavior issue, you are out of that school permantly.

@12:41 I go to school with those so called "savages".I'm a student @ JMB And I hate to inform you but, politics play no role in those altercations that have happened today. They aren't "savages" or "thugs" they're just ignorant kids.

This is getting out of hand. The school systems hands are tied and the kids know it. Back when I was in school, you acted up, you got the board of education in school and especially when you got home. I went to American Education Week, these kids are rude, disrespectful and right down hateful to other kids and teachers. These teachers and admin staff don't get paid enough to deal with this. I can see why teachers are bailing and finding different careers. Just sad.

Anonymous said...

First of all the administration doesn't know how to address people, whether it be student or parent. I'm not condoning what happened but what I am saying to get respect you have to give respect.

Anonymous said...

Thank you! These folks are uick to judge. There are underlying issues within the school system that are not being addressed. Like I said in a previous comment. The administration does not know how to talk to people. So it just may have triggered the attack the other day. And there are no real details of what happened today. People be to quick to judge from the outside looking in.

This is nothing more than what kids see on tv. Look at Baltimore and other places around the country. Just a form of people acting out because they have the opportunity.

9:50 Spot on. Just happy my 3 kids went to Parkside. Much calmer on that side of Snow Hill Rd.
When are the civil rights of the kids trying to learn going to be more important than the kids trying to disrupt the learning.
You can't make a slow fish faster by slowing down the faster fish. Did you know the budget for special-ed is 3 times more than for accelerated learners. Could be why we outspend other countries and underperform them. Duh! Damn liberals. They're ruining our country and our ability to compete. Just give everyone a trophy.

Anonymous said...

Well we voted for an elected school board. and that's where the changes need to be made. Time for Parents to get involved and put a stop to this BS!

Anonymous said...

I hate to inform you but as a Parkside parent Parkside is just as bad. Ms Pinney is terrible and so is guidance counselor Mr Giddens. Both are a joke. Ms. OBARSKY is much better at communication and needs to be promoted.

Anonymous said...

I have. Walked the halls with these thugs, not so called thugs they are 1oo%

Anonymous said...

247 blame it on teachers a administration? I'm guessing by that comment your one of those parents who thinks their thug child can do no wrong. U think this because u or someone else in the family does the same thing or socks off the system and feels entitled. Just a guess but from my e,perceive as law enforcement a b d teacher this is an inherited trait. Just saying

Anonymous said...

Anyone saying for the students to be expelled need to just get a grip. Ok fights happen, we have all been in them... But it doesn't mean people should be expelled! And also people who are saying the parents should go to jail need a reality check because you are the only one teaching your "child" how to behave! You are all a bunch of Hillary supporters.

Anonymous said...

Honestly its a mess and before there is judgement we need to know the facts. 20 people fighting, i am quite sure some of those kids were innocent, caught in the melee and may have been defending them selves and honestly if someone's attacking my child i would want them to defend theirselves and if that means beating the brakes of a bully im all for it. That could mean the difference in them not being killed like that poor innocent girl in Wilmington. Tearing up that new school. Thats why rebuilding west salisbury, & glen avenue should have been a priority. The staff at those dnt allow destruction. Im not blaming staff but Bennett cannot handle that mess there. They need a Joe Clark approach to this nonsense

Anonymous said...

It is very interesting for a county that had Trump signs everywhere and boasts how republican the area is, that there so many democrat children and families ruining the schools. Seems like the majority of children would be republicans and would not put up with such nonsense.

Anonymous said...

You are correct, if the students were respectful, the administration would respect them.

Anonymous said...

Being " fatherless" has nothing to do with it... Don't be so quick to judge..

Anonymous said...

Republican, democratic whar kind of stupid comment is that. That has nothing to do with the behaviors of these children. Just because the parent is Republican does that make your child God and a democratic parents kid is a thug. Parents need to wake up and stop judging everyone for these kids actions. These are high school kids and there old enough to no what respect is and at that point sometimes the parent might have done everything right on raising that child but that child is hanging around the wrong crowd. People need to stop judging and try to find the true problem to help these kids.

Anonymous said...

No one is allowed to say the real problem because the real problem suggests racism. The real problem is that we cannot identify the problem so it gets worse and worse.
Children need two parents
Children need to know they are a priority
Children need to be spoken to with kindness
Children need to be held to a high standard
Parents MUST be involved in their lives
Children need to see their parents taking responsibility and working hard, not relying on the government.
For every person who claims this is racism, you are making excuses. I know plenty of minority families who have stronger family values and after better parents than any white parents I know. I know plenty of white families who are awful. It isn't race, it is a culture that is passed down from generation to generation.
I left Salisbury this year to get away from that culture; best decision we have ever made.

Maybe George Wallace was right about some things?

It's not even gang related it was just rising tensions between multiple people

Time for home schooling. If a group of parents split the costs for teachers in the separate fields of study, students could learn from home and not be put in this type of violent environment five days a week. Contact Joe and he'll forward your info to me because I can teach English, Literature, Civics, Social Studies and History.

Anonymous said...

Sure you are up to date on your info? Giddens is not even at Parkside this year.

Solution for Hanlin:

1. Require parents to come in for PC for any infraction that requires physical altercation. Students are out of school suspended until this takes place. This cannot be a phone conference.

2. Eliminate cell phone use in schools. Since we have opened this up, we have had more fights and violence due to social media. Bullying is at an all time high.

3. Give less chances. Having to reassign a detention 3 times is ridululous. Students should be given one opportunity. If they fail to serve, suspend them.

4. Create an alternate out of school suspension school where kids can be assigned if they are suspended to keep them off the streets and working. If they don't listen there, then suspend them.

5. Add more mental health workers (therapists, CARES representataives, Heath dept.) employees. Our kids have massive issues that teachers cannot and are not trained to address. That said, train teachers on mental health issues.

6. Add full on testing administrators. Having our administration run behavior and testing is problematic at best.

103 nice laundry list, only one problem, the WBOE is full of liberals with their comfort bears and snowflakery. They're too busy doing their coddling to be worried about school safety or any other nonsense such as this. They're only concern is meeting their federally mandated quotas.
