Police: 16-year-old girl claimed to be lost White Marsh dog's owner, sold it on Craigslist

WHITE MARSH, Md. (WBFF) -- Baltimore County police say a 16-year-old girl posed as the owner of a lost dog, gained custody, and sold it on Craigslist.

The 10-year-old Yorkshire Terrier wandered away from her White Marsh home around 9 a.m. on Oct. 16 and was found by a Good Samaritan who placed a lost dog ad on Craigslist, police said. When contacted by the teen who allegedly claimed to be the owner, the Good Samaritan gave her the dog.

“The girl had seen the ad, pretended to be the dog's owner, took the dog, then sold the dog on Craigslist,” police wrote in a release on Wednesday.

Detectives identified the teen and charged her as a juvenile.

Absolutely mean, her parents should be charged first they must have known what she did.

How heartless you have to be. My prayers for the real owners and the poor old dog who is wondering where his/her family went.

Why? I, and lots of people I know have bought/sold things on there without any problems. I've also used it to find 2 great carpenters for my remodeling company. 1 has been with me for 5 years and the other 2 years. Its a great asset to communities.
