Investigation Into Cecil Co. Police Involved Shooting Continues

October 26, 2016

(ELKTON, MD) – As part of the continuing investigation, Maryland State Police investigators have determined a state trooper, sheriff’s deputies and municipal police officers fired yesterday during the police involved shooting in Cecil County that fatally wounded two fugitives from Delaware.

Brandon Jones, 25, and Chelsea Porter, 25, both of Dover Delaware, were fatally wounded by police just before 10:00 a.m. yesterday when they refused directions to surrender and both pointed guns at fugitive task force officers attempting to arrest them at their Cecil County motel room. Both were wanted by Delaware State Police on warrants charging them with multiple felony gun and drug offenses.

The Maryland State Police trooper who fired is identified as Sergeant Michael Bonczewski, assigned to the Criminal Enforcement Division. He is a 10-year veteran of the Maryland State Police and works on the Maryland State Apprehension Team, which tracks and arrests criminal fugitives throughout the state. He has been placed on routine administrative leave, which is procedure in police involved shootings.

Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators have determined three deputies from the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office and six officers from the Elkton Police Department also fired their weapons. Questions regarding the identity of those officers and deputies should be directed to their respective departments.

Investigators have learned that when members of the MSAT team knocked and announced their presence at the hotel room yesterday, Brandon Jones pulled back the curtain, pointed a gun at them and said he had a gun. The police officers retreated from the door and continued to order the suspects to surrender, until they came out and pointed the guns at police.

The investigation is continuing.

This is the couple that was on all the local news less then a week ago. LE was looking for them after they fired shots at another man and fled. LE found over 2000 bags of heroin, other drugs and many fire arms some that had reported been stolen. She has died red hair. I have no sympathy. They were going to die sooner rather then later anyway. Might as well sooner and get it over with. Just thankful no LE were injured or killed.

In case anyone wants to know, Brandon Jones has a good-sized criminal record. Now he's dead at age 25. What a crime !

Duncan needs to manage a Dominos because she has fubarred SPD. Sad great cops there with a rich history of fighting crime. If they wanted a social worker for Chief they should have hired one. Wonder if the system foretold of the pending rape. Miss Cleo must have been off that night. Get back to patrolling the streets and enforcing laws. That is how you win minds and souls over. Hammer criminals and treat the good people with respect. I think she and Fake Day have it backwards.

Why are you identifying the officers? Let the thugs who may do them harm do their own research.
