Obama shortens federal sentences of eight Marylanders, 214 overall

Eight Marylanders are among the 214 federal prisoners whose sentences were shortened Wednesday by President Barack Obama, the White House said. It was the most commutations in a single day in more than a century.

The prisoners include four from Baltimore and four from other parts of Maryland. All were convicted of drug crimes; five had been sentenced to life in prison.

Obama has now shortened 562 sentences — more than the previous nine presidents combined, the White House said. Almost 200 of the prisoners had been serving life sentences.

White House counsel Neil Eggleston says Obama will continue to grant clemency to inmates during the final months of his presidency. He says those receiving commutations were imprisoned under antiquated, overly harsh sentencing laws.

I hope someone or agency can monitor all so we can let Mr. O know the additional crimes these losers commit. I heard on the radio that they were mostly none violent offenders. First, non violent do not get life sentences. Second, yesterday I started going through the list and out of the first 15 I think about have hand hand gun violations. I do not consider that non violent.

Hogan says we have a drug epidemic in Maryland. Obama is letting the biggest dealers from Maryland free. So frustrating.

So, is the guy that was moving ten kilos of heroin and in possession of stolen weapons going to go right on down to the job center and get himself a good wage?

I went back and checked the link on this thread, I couldn't find the guy you referred to. But there were few on this link so you must have read it elsewhere.

Willie Horton, call your office!

Didn't go through the list; most on the title page yesterday also had firearms involved in their crime and sentence.

Boy, oh boy! What a boost, er, shot in the arm, for the community organizer ranks!

And how appropriate to coincide with National Night out!

And just what is the racial makeup of the persons whose sentences were commuted? It would be interesting to see if this is just another racist policy by our first black president.

Heroin pushers deal death. Heroin is the bullets and that syringe is the gun. They are just as guilty of murder dealing this poison as if they just would put a gun to the buyer's head and pulled the trigger.
"Non-violent"? I disagree.

Of course he's letting out criminals. It takes a criminal to appreciate another one. Obama should flee country after he's out of office. He has many crimes hanging over his head. ☕️🚬
