Salisbury – Mayor Jake Day is pleased to announce the latest exciting development in Downtown revitalization as Perdue Farms moves their corporate training center to the Main Place building at 214 W. Main St.
The new 5,000-square-foot space, designed by Fisher Architecture, will provide a multitude of flexible training and community meeting spaces that can function independently or together. The Center will be equipped with integrated smart boards and the latest in audio-visual resources. A large training room will provide seating for up to 100. Two additional classroom-style spaces will each hold 30 to 40 people, and additional space will be utilized for small group meetings as well as contain offices for staff members. The design plan also includes a small kitchen and storage space.
“We’re excited about our move downtown and the opportunity to be part of the city’s revitalization,” said Kathryn Danko-Lord, Perdue’s director of talent management and organizational development. “At Perdue, we recognize that our success depends upon our associates, and our investment in the new Perdue Learning Center is an investment in their growth and our company’s future as we prepare to enter our second century.
“We’ll bring associates from across the country at every level of management to the Learning Center to develop their professional and personal skills to help them be successful in their careers.”
Mayor Jake Day said, “For more than three generations, Perdue has been a cornerstone of our community—they’ve employed thousands and brought millions of dollars home to Maryland’s eastern shore. Through years of growth and expansion, Perdue’s headquarters of operation has remained right here in Salisbury, and the company’s well-known, decades-long commitment to its hometown is as strong now as ever before. I am excited to announce Perdue’s plan to relocate its corporate training center to this 5,000 sq. ft. facility which is expected to bring Perdue associates from across the country and business into the local economy.”

As my grandfather would say this ain't nothing but a pinch of snuff. While it makes good headlines the real prize is going to Delaware, were hundreds of jobs are relocating at the ag sales offices. This learning center will create no new jobs, maybe bring a few people in to rent hotel rooms and buy a few beers. Wicomico and Maryland will suffer job loses and Delaware will gain.
Just a few weeks ago Jake was slamming Perdue for building more poultry houses.
so why isn't he standing in front of the right bldg? text says 214 W main but hes standing in front an e main st address. weird.
Will this be an attraction at 3rd Friday's?
Sounds like another 10 million dollar Gillis Gilkerson write off.
There is a trade-off here and the public needs to know what it is.
It's pretty obvious Day will continue to linw the pockets of the wealthy to continue to pursue his political goals. Now that Ireton faded away it will be interesting when Day and Lewis butt heads over congressional availability. Both suffer from Napoleon complex should get pretty entertaining
Boy, he must've really pulled some strings to get the ear of top executives!
