BALTIMORE (WJZ) — There has been a surge in overdose deaths, according to the Maryland Department of Health.
A new report shows that overdose deaths have decreased in Baltimore City, but that the problem still persists statewide.
“You know people who are here today and gone tomorrow. It’s just that quick,” one woman said.
According to the health department, 383 overdose deaths were reported in the first three months of 2016 — nearly a 20 percent jump from the same period last year.
“It affects everybody, and that is it. It is hard to now know someone who hasn’t been affected in some way or another by this disease,” said Kathleen Rebbert-Franklin, Behavorial Health Administration.

Should rename this post: Maryland Healthcare Workers Labor Over Heroin Problem Solution Rather Than Just Build A Wall Preventing Drugs From Coming In from Mexico!
Big waste of taxpayer 💰💰! The wall is cheaper than paying for all these simple minds to reinvent the wheel.
The punishments for the dealers should be more harsh.
Like the innkeeper said to Mary & Joseph, "There ain't be no more room at da inn!"
A wall at the Mexican border isn't going to stop the tons and tons of illicit shipments coming through our ports.
Might not cure whole problem but it sure as hell put a huge debt in it. It's not a deluge in a paper cup situation. There are such things as doing many things to help correct a polroblem! The Wall is one of many. Seriously. Logic. Logic is a good thing!
It probably is time to prosecute the CIA and Military for importing heroin into our country.
Maybe even allow the Taliban to destroy the poppy fields?
Nah, too much money being made by the elites.

You make it sound like the government is bringing in the drugs?
And they are also the ones who are locking people up for doing drugs?
Locking up their own customers? How stupid.
Like they make money off of selling the drugs.
Then, they make money off of prison systems.
Oh, I get it.
Quite wasting taxpayers money on this crap, let the dope heads die. We need the money to rebuild our bridges, and roads, the so called "War on Drugs" is a joke!
We don't punish anyone now , we reward them . We give them what they want when they want it. We are followers not leaders. Get a grip and take a trip with us.
Let them die, anyone stupid enough to put dope in their veins deserves just what they get!
