One person was arrested after holding up a convenience store on 9th St near the boardwalk, after the same individual robbed another person at knife point moments earlier. Lets see if the OCPD releases any of this information.
I'm hearing downtown OC is being over run with thugs.

For public safety, the descriptions of the robbers and any pictures, should be made available immediately.
You don't see a cop one on the boardwalk. We've been there for the past few weekends and have noticed this. It's very very VERY unnerving. Of course if we are noticing the complete lack of LE presence, then the thugs are too.

This should be publicized for the protection of the tourists, oh that's right, there is no crime in OC, bad for business.
I heard at least two armed robberies go down on the scanner yesterday morning. Wasn't listening later in the day. They shouldn't keep this stuff secret.

If they had any sense they would release the information. Word in this town travels fast. As a resident of west Ocean City for the past 25 years I can tell you the element in town gets worse every year. I hardly ever go into Ocean City.....it's just not that nice anymore. From what I'm hearing the boardwalk is disgusting. I will stick with assateague.
Oh but 10:20 AM if it were about safety, they would release that information because it is a public safety issue...
This is how you know it isn't about safety and you should stop living in the illusion that there is safety... You can compare that to someone being healthy and working out in a gym most of their life and die from a blood clot... You do not know where or when anything will happen, so the point here is STOP WORRYING ABOUT SAFETY because there is NOTHING IN THIS WORLD THAT CAN KEEP YOU SAFE FROM ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD... Always know you owe a death and regardless how fat or healthy you are, you will pay that price sometime, some way... Now if you people can understand that, which I won't hold my breath, you can start to live a better and happier life and maybe, just maybe it can spread to other people...

unless there is more going on....never want to tip ones' hand (pictures/names) if there is a bigger fish to fry. OCPD has always had very good undercover officers who squash most of the bad guys before things get out of hand. Sometimes we never hear about the good squashes. As long as they keep me safe, I'm ok.

OCPD is around 50 personal short this year compared to other years..

Why are they 50 short--are they full time cops, temp cops, what ? I never saw anything in the paper about it--why not full court press to find people

They were actually understaffed last year too. Do you know why? They are having a hard time finding seasonals that actually pass a full background check. Since they are polygraphing all seasonals now, people are actually being disqualified and they can't keep their numbers up. Seasonal officers are going to become a thng of the past. They'll just tr to hire more full time officers to make up for it.
That's asinine 12:24. What are these "background checks?" Are they to weed out rapists, child molesters, drug kingpins!!!! No they are to week out someone who smoked pot while in high school or some other useless thing. The OCPD has gone downhill in the past few years.
SBYnews once again has the guts to report things like this. Will the two OC papers report on these events Friday? The shame of it is that the OC mayor and council have been hearing complaints about the thugs for years now and steadfastly refuse to address it. They still continue to advertise OC in the inner city; they want those people here. But heavens no, we can't have smokers on the beach or boards. OC has lost so much business over the years, directly attributable to the influx of thugs...
Joe, why don't you take a video camera to the boards and show the world what really goes on there after dark?

You can no longer have freedom or fun. why bother. That outdoor secondhand smoke is really is a killer. Friggin idiots deserve what you voted for suck it up.
The dopes at the OCPD aren't fooling anyone. They are intentionally under staffing so they can get rid of the seasonals. They want a year round department and are willing to risk public safety to achieve this goal. That's disgusting. And if this isn't the case then when they had a hard time last year getting seasonals they should have taken extra steps to get enough people this year. There is no excuse for a shortage other than incompetence. Utter incompetence. Whoever is in charge there now isn't doing their job and needs to go ASAP!

Something can happen anywhere anytime but I spend practically every day downtown OC, have done so for years and have very few problems. I really don't know what's the problem with you folks. You are the Grand Poobahs of all negativity.
