You need to add:

Axe / Ask
Pacific / Specific

More are probably available...

May I suggest asked, not axed?

Its = belonging to or relating to it, as in, "I stepped on its tail."
It's = contraction of it is, as in "It's a nice day."

I've been teaching for the past 11 years, so it's hard for me to not jump in..

There are two particular things that drive me nuts:

'Media' is PLURAL (like radio, TV and newspapers are all MEDIA); the singular form is 'medium'

If I graduated from a college, I am an 'alumnus' of said college. My classmates and I are 'alumni' (plural.. do you see?)

Thanks. I feel better now. :-)

Grammar is one of the things that makes reading/scrolling through Facebook a nightmare. Not only is the younger generation having problems with this, it is also lacking in the 30 plus group.
You have to wonder (not wander) where (not wear) they were in school; definitely not in their (not theyre/they're) English class.

Whole nother is an eastern Shore favorite.

One word misused constantly: loose instead of lose.

1:28, it's 50 Cent, not 55! LOL!

What's plasket? Maybe plastic?

Yes, this is very enjoyable, and could go on forever!

It's a wonderful language, and it evolves. Its life and beauty are rapidly being snuffed under a pillow of easy and lazy grammar and spelling.

I would guess that a fair number of the teachers don't do much better than the students. Maybe that has something to do with it.

One very common thing people do in my area is use an apostrophe like a paper clip to attach an 's' to a word.

Jack brought his dog's along for the ride.

You even see it in a newspaper occasionally. (Don't get me started about newspapers..)

Apostrophe abusers. What are they thinking?

2:38 PM - Good point. Those license plate frames with the college name and "alumni" are annoying.
But, to offer more to your explanation, you're an alumnus only if you're a male. Alumni are either all males or of mixed gender. Females each are alumna, and in plural, alumnae.

Just one more (I'm trying to quit..:-)

Effect vs affect

I think of it this way: Affect is a verb form ("A" for Action)

Effect is a noun form.. I think of "sound effects"

This error is probably one of the most widespread at this point. You see it everywhere, even on signs, in manuals, and in magazines and newspapers.

The group of people that tend to misuse these words, belong to one ethnicity.

8:24 PM - I wouldn't be too sure about that.
