A Viewer Writes: Dog attack in Salisbury

Mr. Albero,

I appreciate your ability to disperse pertinent and helpful information to the residents of the eastern shore in a quick and effective manner. I am writing because of an incident that occurred yesterday, Monday, March 28th around the area of the Salisbury City Park. I was the victim of an unprovoked attack by an unknown pitbull and unidentified owner. A large white/cream pitbull viciously attacked me before fleeing along with his owner. I suffered multiple large puncture wounds on my forearms, legs and rib cage. The incident was reported to the appropriate agencies, but because I could not provide a very detailed description of the owner, it is unlikely he will be apprehended. I now have to undergo a series of rabies vaccines along with healing from my multiple painful injuries. I am writing this to make citizens in the area aware of the danger this animal may pose to them. I am very grateful my injuries were not worse, and I just ask others to remain aware of this potentially dangerous situation and be vigilant to protect themselves, their pets, and their children.

Publishers Notes: If ANYONE knows who this piece of crap is who owns this dog, please contact the Police immediately. NO ONE deserves this and what kind of man disappears after a woman is attacked like this. Know that I am biting my New York tongue but I'm sure you have an idea what words I'd like to be using right now.

We have already complained to police about pit bull that lives on second floor apt. over former Jacks's Religious Store. With drug dealers whose customers speed down Buena Vista Avenue. Nothing seems to be done. Can't fight crime that does not exist, if you do you're admitting it exist and that would ruin the new branding for da Bury. This is Ireton's district, maybe he's waiting to be congressman and then bring in the FBI and DEA.

hope they catch the dog and owner!!!

So many things have happened in the City Park it is no longer a safe place for children and families to enjoy. Cameras need to be installed. I sure hope this person is able to recover quickly and hope the person responsible for the dog attack is apprehended.

I agree with you Joe. Only a loser would do such a thing. Unfortunately, it seems like Salisbury is full of them - Losers, that is.

Conceal/Carry would have taken care of the dog.

It's not just wicomico county. In Vienna there is a dog that is let to run free every day. On numerous occasions it has gone after several children, other animals and adults. The dog has bitten at least twice. It is aggressive and a danger to the general public. Plus it frequents the park in town which leaves children with no playground or puts children in harms way. People are so irresponsible. I hope your wounds heal and you are able to, at the very least, find out if the dog has a rabies vaccine.

Carry a weapon and dispatch the dog if he attacks again.

We need to have city ord. passed to outlaw the ownership of these vicious animal in our city.

This is exactly why I ALWAYS carry a knife. I have absolutely no problem with killing a dog if I feel that it is a threat to my well being. I carry one I can open with a flick of my thumb or often times my BillBlade hat (BTW, a local invention and Salisbury company).

Joe, I am the young woman who sent you this email and I appreciate you getting it out to the public so quickly. It was the scariest situation of my life and I felt it was my moral duty to warn others. I work as a legal assistant downtown and have recently been eating my lunch at the picnic tables at the park to enjoy this beautiful spring weather. I can certainly say that I no longer feel safe doing this. I feel lucky to be alive and I hope by posting this, others can be aware and understand that the city park is not a safe place to be, not even at 12:00 in the afternoon on a weekday. Something needs to be done to make our city safe again. Thanks again for getting my story out there.

Was it around 3pm?

I saw a man with a white pitbull that was limping about 3pm walking in rte 50 white pitbulls are not that common so I noticed it. It was also limping like it had been in a fight. The owner was an African American male early-mid twenties. Red shirt and red hat.. My fiance and I commented how the dog looked like it had been fighting... So sorry this happened. Itis terrible you can't even go to the park anymore

Describe the owner!

What is sad is that a dog is not born to attack. It is the ---hole human(s) that make dogs mean.

1:51 That is terrifying. Please give as much description of dog owner as you are able.

Put police on patrol in the park. On bikes. The crime rate is horrible even in the daytime. It's not safe anymore. Enough already.

The city park is a dangerous place! A few weeks ago, a woman was mugged there. That same week my daughter had her car window smashed in with a large rock.
She lost money, gift cards, an ipad, debit and credit cards and all id. The items were in her console...not in plain sight.

The whole town of sby is s dangerous place.I feel your pain young lady i sure as hell hope they find the 2 legged culprit but i imagine his description would cover 98% of what walks the bury in the daytime.
I ride thru the park almost daily and NEVER see a city or county police officer on patrol or even parked.Warmer weather is coming people be aware of these mongrels they are out for anything they can take.A can of starting fluid is a good defense weapon for the unskilled just pop the cap and aim for the eyes. Most cans shoot a 6 to 8 foot stream

This is not profiling, but if you see a black man with a pit bull beware. Do not to be friendly and request him to leave your space. And better yet, carry protection if you are alone. A good can of wasp spray is good if you are afraid to carry a gun.

Imagine for a moment if this had been an African American women having her lunch and a white man's German Shepherd attacked her..... would we have a park left?

Pw8697 - I wear my Bill Blades hat, carry a knife and pepper spray when I walk my dog in Centennial Village. There's shady characters and loose dogs here, too.

I appreciate the awareness reminding everyone to be cautious. I personally been to SBY City hundreds of times including being on the trails. I have never felt unsafe. Although sad for the lady experiencing the unfriendly dog doesn't mean we avoid SBY City Park either.
