MURDER INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN WICOMICO COUNTY

(SALISBURY, MD) — State, county and city police in Wicomico County are searching this morning for the person or persons responsible for an overnight shooting that left one man dead.

The victim is identified as Irvonte C. Jones, 24, of Salisbury, Md. Jones was pronounced dead after being transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. yesterday, troopers from the Salisbury Barrack were dispatched to the 1000-block of Pierce Avenue, Salisbury, for a reported shooting. Troopers met the owner of the single family home, who said she had just arrived at the residence and found her boyfriend, Jones, lying unresponsive in a bedroom. Jones had sustained what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds and was transported by EMS personnel to the hospital.

Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators responded to conduct the investigation. State Police crime scene technicians spent the night processing the scene for evidence, after a search warrant was obtained. Investigators continue to interview neighbors and family members. A member of the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office responded to the scene and continues to work with investigators. Additional assistance is being provided by the Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation and the State Police Gang Enforcement Unit.

The preliminary investigation indicates Jones was alone in the home when he was shot. A suspect description has not been developed at this time. A motive has not been identified. It is unclear yet if the person or persons responsible forced their way into the home, or were let in by the victim.

State Police investigators urge anyone with information about this victim or the person(s) responsible for his death to contact Lower Eastern Shore Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776, or the Salisbury Barrack at 410-749-3101. Callers may remain anonymous.

Publishers Notes: When we learned of this incident last night the call came in saying "SFD going to Pierce Ave (off of East Lincoln Ave) for a self inflicted shooting". When they were transporting him to the hospital they said he had been shot 3 times.......since the press release is calling it a murder, (above) it wasn't self inflicted after all.

This was also put out there -

Good ole" bury" gang member hey chief Pizza Duncan keep up the good work msh.

15 to 20 family members? Being disruptive? Imagine that.

How come nobody goes after the Salisbury city council on crime? They are the ones that hold the power to change crime but Jake day needs to fir police chef Duncan NOW if he wants credibility.

Wow what a great place to live. One question why is there a State's Attorney working in the field with the detectives??? Shouldnt they be case prepping so they dont lose another murder case that appeared to be a slam dunk. Just saying become an expert in prosecuting cases. Then you can go out and play detective. Obviously watching way too much t.v.

I would think M.S.P. Homicide can handle it

Condolences to the surviving family members and loved ones.

Wow, can't even be in your own home in piece without someone envious of you making attempts at your life.
I question the choice of words in this article. Instead of using disruptive, words like emotional or concerned could of been used. How do you expect family members to react to the news.

9:14 AM - the city council no more has the power to curb crime than you do to stop the wind blowing between your ears.

How do you think you would respond to your family being murdered? Have some respect. Of course a large group of family members that showed up to hospital is going to be disruptive with crying, screaming and yelling !! You weren't there so shut up!! People grieve differently!! Prayers and condolences to the family.

The reason the S. A office member showed up is to show off ... Not sure if anyone knows but for the last week and a half The First 48 has been filming here on the shore... Even in Delaware .. They were all over the murder there last week ... They turned down a local news agency that I won't mention .. So that the camera crew for the show could film.

10:54 and others. The States Attorneys Office doesn't show up to show off. They are their to gain immediate evidence for obviously an upcoming case. The person was murdered. I'll add, the States Attorney is the leading Law Enforcement over ALL agencies. If you think it's fun to show up at every murder investigation/scene you are nuts. Wicomico County has never had a better States Attorney than Matt Maciarello. He is by far the most dedicated worker in the entire County.

Had to go look at his Facebook page. Everybody is commenting that they can't believe it. Some people are even talking about the good old days when they were on house arrest. Really people? You didn't see this coming?

But didn't they buy that program that was supposed to let them know where a crime was likely to occur? Oh Boy does Salisbury have their hands full with that bunch of losers elected to office. The best is that dope getting hosed into paying some company to come up with that nonsense "branding" initiative. It's the most amateurish looking hodgepodge of nonsense ever. A grade school student could have done a more professional looking job. All you Sby residents need to come up with some snake oil to sell that group of stooges.

It's a good thing that the State's Attorney has someone there. Evidence on site is one of the most important facets of any crime of violence. Their presence adds to the strength of evidence collection and putting together the evidence to give a picture of the crime and the criminal. Maciarello's team has successfully prosecuted some of the worst criminals that Salisbury has ever seen, and they did it by being meticulous and on the job, day and night.

IF the first 48 is filming here that goes to show you that crime is really serious in this area. People have some respect for the family that has lost their son, brother, friend, cousin, and the girlfriend who found him. You would want some respect if you came home and found your loved one murdered.

Joe this was dispatched to Station 1 for and engine and an ambulance for a shooting. The dispatchers told the ambulance crew and the engine crew that this was a self inflicted gunshot wound.

This is evidence that we have the worst 911 center in the state of Maryland and if reflects on Bob Culvers leadership. Bob appointed David Shipley, a reject of Rick Pollitts. That reject came from Anne Arundel County and he is not Local. That is always a big problem with the city and the county. Then Bob Culver allowed David Shipley to appoint Laraine Buck who was a secretary with no experience as the Deputy Director. She is the second highest ranking person in that department. David Shipley and Laraine Buck go everywhere together. To classes, meetings, conferences, etc. They can't do anything unless they are attached at the hip. Something is very suspicious about that relationship.

But to get back to the poor dispatching of the Wicomico County Emergency Services dispatchers they are going to get someone killed. People have complained on here almost daily about their poor dispatching and poor professionalism.

I know you like Executive Culver, but this should be a wake up call for Bob. It's all on tape and all he has to do is listen to the tape and he will find out how poor the dispatching is and how much of a liability that department is. Shipley and Buck need to be separated from Wicomico County. You can't tell me we couldn't find someone locally to run the 911 Center.

When this call was dispatched an ambulance responded, then another ambulance responded and Central said one unit had already answered up. The second unit said "well we are going to assist."

Then the fire truck from Station 1 answered up 6 firemen, Engine 1 or Truck 1, don't remember which one. A few minutes later Utility 1 responded with 116 and 3. Assistant Chief 1 responded.

Units Responding

1 fire engine with 6
2 ambulances with 4
1 utility pickup with 4
1 Chiefs SUV with 1

That is 5 expensive fire vehicles with at least 15 personnel from the Salisbury Fire Department that responded on a simple shooting with 1 patient. At least 5 of those people were paid firemen from the City of Salisbury.

If there were more vehicles that responded could someone please add to this.

This is simply poor leadership from the Salisbury Fire Department. Isn't "I'm the Captain Now, Bitches" Mayor Jake Day paying attention? This is your fire department and you allow this waste of resources on a call that the 2 ambulances could have easily handled.

What a Joke Jake Day has turned out to be. You always made fun of Jim Ireton and his Photo Ops, that is all Jake Day does and Jake Day is so in love with himself that he takes selfies hundreds of times a day.

This City and the fire department is in bad shape!

Oh that Jake Day will argue with you that crime is down in Salisbury and that the crime is really in the county. This time he is technically correct, but this county street is actually surrounded by the city thug streets.

Anonymous said...

Oh the Salisbury Fire Department is coming up with new terminology to use. "Stand Down" is their big words of the day now.

No morons when you don't need a fire engine to respond it is 'return to service" not you can "stand down."

Those paid firemorons have the biggest egos. LMFAO!

Anonymous said...

Uh Oh Assistant Chief 2, Truck 2 and Ambulance B-74 are at Tischon Corporation behind Gander Mountain and they just asked for the Helicopters availability.

Central came back and said it was. They are 3 minutes from the hospital and they are thinking about flying someone in the helicopter. Don't forget PRMC is a Trauma Center. They are wasting time on the scene when any trauma patient is Load and Go! They are playing around and no paramedic on the scene so it must not be very serious.

Anonymous said...

Central just came back and said the helicopter has a 15 minute ETA.

Truck 2 went on the air to command and said that Consult has given permission to fly the patient to Balitmore.

Remember that PRMC is 3 minutes away!

Now Command(Darren Scott) is telling Central that the landing zone will be a the Country House warehouse. Remember PRMC is only 3 minutes away and they are playing around with this mans life and limb. It's already been 10 minutes since they check availability.

The Timer on my clock is running.

Anonymous said...

It's been over 20 minutes and Trooper 4 has not even landed and doesn't even know where they are going. They just got in the air and patching through requesting Truck 2. Now Command jumps in and takes over and he knows nothing.

Now Command is asking if Paramedic B74 has the patient loaded yet. I damn sure hope they have that patient loaded up, it's been 20 minutes.

Command is telling them to land in the "parking lot" and the helicopter has no idea where they are supposed to land. Command says "just south of DP&L, just south of DP&L." What a cluster F***.

Now Trooper 4 says they will be there in a minute. Remember the PRMC Trauma Center is just 3 Minutes away. That patient could have been at PRMC approximately 20 to 25 minutes ago. The Salisbury Fire Department is a JOKE!

Anonymous said...

My timer has been running for 24 minutes and that helicopter hasn't seen the patient yet. NO PATIENT deserves to be treated this way by the Salisbury Fire Department!

Since you don't know WTF you are talking about you should keep your mouth shut. The SA always responds to the scene of a Homicide if they can so they can get a first hand view.

You are nothing but a cop hating idiot. Good work MSP and the States Attorney's Office.

Anonymous said...

Joe you really should be paying attention to that Cluster F*** of a call going on at the Tischon Corporation. The Salisbury Fire Department is really screwing up again with the help of the Delmar Paramedic unit B-74. What a shame!!

Anonymous said...

Joe that patient from Tischon Corporation has been on the scene for over 30 minutes and hasn't seen a doctor yet. There is only so much care that a paramedic in the field can do.

Now if the helicopter takes off right this minute then it has a 30 minute ETA to the hospital in Baltimore. That is air time, then they need clearance to land, unload the patient, take them in the elevator, find a room an finally a doctor may be available to see him.

Right now it's over 30 minutes on scene time and 30 minutes in the air. That is over an hour of negligence when the patient could have been to a trauma center in 30 minutes.

Anonymous said...

The Salisbury Fire Department fire and EMS was dispatched over 30 minutes ago to the Tischon Corporation at 2410 West Zion for an Industrial Accident. Engine 16 responds from Station 16 with their crew. Assistant Chief 3 responds in his take home to Delmar, Delaware Crown Vic and says dispatch an ambulance from Delmar. Paramedic B-74 answers up before even being dispatched.

Truck 2 hurries up and clears the minor BS car accident they were on in the area Rt.13 and Zion Rd. Truck 2 officer(Dougie Parker) excited goes responding and tells Engine 16 they can stand down, whatever that means.

Anonymous said...

Zion Road Command(Darren Scott) says the "situation under control the helicopter" at 1532 Hours. At that time I stopped my timer at 33:41.98 minutes into the call. The actual time was a lot longer, that is when I decided to hit the timer. I have it screen captured. That means the patient will be over an hour and 20 minutes or more without seeing a doctor or real emergency care thanks to the Salisbury Fire Department, Assistant Chief Darren Scott, Lieutenant Doug Parker on Truck 2 and the Paramedic from Delmar on B-74. NEGLECT is the word.

Then the helicopter tells Central they are flying to Baltimore. Central says have a safe trip.

Trooper 4 gets on their radio to Syscom to tell them they are going to Baltimore now. Syscom tells them that Trooper 2 flying from Frederick County has been diverted due to weather. Syscom says the Weather isn't at Baltimore yet and to be aware that it was heading to Baltimore. That means Trooper 2 will be diverted to another hospital and may even be diverted to PRMC after all. The MSP Aviation Division has very strict protocols and guidelines.

Salisbury Fire Department Assistant Chief Darren Scott kept saying North Zion Road Command. Poor Darren, Tischon Corporation is on West Zion Road.

Everyone in a leadership position at the Salisbury Fire Department needs to be separated from the Salisbury Fire Department. The Salisbury Fire Department needs a good house cleaning and start over.

Reference the comments regarding the states attorney's office. M/M & Company certainly dropped the ball on the Pemberton Drive homicide a couple of years ago involving the Mariner subject. Whoever from the states attorney's office that worked that murder must have gotten their degree from Fisher-Price! The suspect was driving the deceased victim's vehicle and they failed to get a conviction. Poor investigative work from someone in the rank and file. Of course, no one will ever admit to any errors being made by the high and mighty M/M & Company.

In addition, I predict that M/M will fill the next available judge position that becomes available.

The Wicomico 911 Center is failing on a daily basis. The staff there make Peyton Place look like a kindergarden! Relationships between the members of the staff are much more than professional. In case you are wondering, Tiddlywinks is not the game that is being played by several of the 911 Central personnel.

I'm confused by the he was alone in the house myself. Could it be he was shot through a window? Or someone came to the door and shot him without entering the residence?

Every fire and rescue person besides the first ambulance (and maybe the second to bring the total to 4 responders) was there as a gawker and potential contaminator of the crime scene, nothing more. The fire chief needs to rein in this sort of crap. This would be a good time for law enforcement, including the S.A., to have a chat with the fire chief and mayor.

Anonymous said...

To those comments regarding the usage of the state police helicopter for a medical transport, it seems you are very confused how the state of Maryland emergency medical system operates. The paramedic unit on scene consults with the closest receiving facility and the DOCTOR makes the determination to accept the patient or transfer them to a specialty Center, like a pediatric Hospital or a hand center. That decision isn't made by command or the paramedic unit on scene.
