Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Press Release 2-16-16

On February 14, 2016 at approximately 0001 hours a Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was travelling behind a white Ford work van as it travelled north on Route 589 in the area of Route 90. The Deputy observed the vehicle cross the solid white line into the shoulder of the road. The Deputy continued to observe the vehicle as it swerved in its lane almost hitting the traffic cones on Route 589 in the area of Ocean Parkway separating the turn lane into the medical center.

The Deputy stopped the vehicle as it turned onto Beauchamp Road. The Deputy identified the driver as Jose Benito Ordonez Juarez 32 years old, of Ocean Pines, Maryland. The Deputy observed an open bottle of Coors Light sitting in the center console and detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Mr. Juarez’ breath and person as he spoke as well as a slur in his speech. Mr. Juarez did poor on field sobriety tests.

Mr. Juarez was placed under arrest for suspected driving under the influence of alcohol. Mr. Juarez was charged with DUI and released pending trial.

On February 15, 2016 at approximately 12:31 am a Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding at Route 113 and Woodside lane. The Deputy identified the driver as Jeremy Mack Williamson 35 years old, of North Carolina. The Deputy could smell the odor of suspected burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle produced suspect marijuana and a loaded Ruger 357 handgun.

Mr. Williamson was placed under arrest for wear, carry and knowingly transporting a loaded handgun in a vehicle and possession of marijuana less than 10 grams. He awaiting trial.

We don't arrest people for possession of under ten grams of weed, we give them a $100 citation.

5:33 agreed. And we don't arrest for suspected burnt weed. It must be known!
